Hello Everyone, Hope you are doing well. Today I will share a tip to change the Google Maps language on mobile easily. This will make it easier to add names of places in Google Maps in a different language.
A few days ago I have seen an update on Google Maps for android. Now we can easily change the language of the Map from the Maps app. Previously we had to change the device language to see the Maps in a different language. To switch to a different language follow this step.
- Open Maps app
- Tap on your photo o the top right corner
- Tap on ‘Settings’
- Tap on ’ App language’
- Tap on your preferred language
- Tap ‘OK’
- Now the app will restart and you will see the map in the language you have selected.
The official Help Center article also only mention the process for computer or browser. I think this app update was pushed recently.
How to add a name in a different language on Maps on a computer
On a computer follow the steps.
- Open https://www.google.com/maps in the browser
- Click on the hamburger menu
- Click on Language
- Now select the Language you want to add names in.
- No edit the place and you should see an additional field to add a name in that language as shown in this screenshot.
So guys, now start adding names in a second language so that Maps can be accessible for all.
