Changes to travel as we have known it due to the current global crisis.
I will speak of my three homes:
New Zealand. I’m a New Zealand Citizen. Entry to New Zealand is now only accessible to Citizens and Resident Visa holders. Because of airlines cutting back services, temporarily closing, and in some cases permanently closing, travel will become more expensive.
Czech Republic. I have a Residence Visa to Czech Republic because my wife is a Czech Citizen. Having residency to Czech Republic also gave me easy access to all of Europe. It has been announced that the Czech Republic borders will be limited for the next two years.
Qatar. I have a Resident Visa to Qatar because I am currently working here. Qatar has closed its border to all except Qatari Citizens. The border between Qatar and Saudi Arabia has already been closed because of a blockade. If I leave Qatar, I will be unable to return until the current restrictions have been lifted.
It is quite amazing that at this time, I don’t have any travel planned, which is quite surprising because I have done a lot of travel and there has always been travel booked. It has been many years that I haven’t had anything planned. I think travel as I know it will be changed for a very long time.
I just hope everything gets better soon. In my country, borders were closed by March 16th and we started a quarantine supposed to last until today, but some days ago it was announced quarantine will last until April 12th.
Things are still, let’s say “under control” and let’s hope we overcome this situation soon. Money is starting to lack here for many families.
@TheEagleEye can very much relate to the same dilemma. This time, multiple residency and citizenships have its own struggles. Where travelling is limited if not restricted. We all can only hope that everything gets better the soonest time possible.
