Hello, I am István, a local guide from Hungary.
Like most people, I started out using Google Maps for navigation and trip calculations. That is until 2015, when my first son was born and my Local Guide story began.
I love to see reviews about places where we are about to go. Get as much info as possible, prepare accordingly and so on. In 2016 Áron learned to walk, run and climb. There are changes in this age. He tries to reach the highest point, play with the most dangerous games (of course, why not the easiest, which fits to his age). Do you know how much info is available about playgrounds? In my area, not much. At least there wasn’t. During that summer we decided to visit Balatonfüred and go to a playground there. Fortunately, there were already some info on Google Maps like places to park and pictures about the toys. It was a good example on how people could help each other with Google Maps. After this positive experience I thought that Maps is mature enough to have similar level of information about all the places. As I soon discovered, this is far from being the case in my home town. Seeing such two different examples gave me the motivation. Now, everywhere I go, I look for such new place. I add it if not existing and write a review or at least take some pictures about the most important details. I know exactly how helpful these can be. After a long travel everybody needs to know what to expect at the destination.
I believe this to be important, for instance restaurants have their own page with a lot of info, but playgrounds do not have this usually. They are mostly in the hands of the community therefore it is our responsibility to provide details and help each other to be prepared.
Have you already marked all playgrounds in San Jose?
