What I love about Google Maps is the way it eases your life, everyday. When you need to go anywhere you can now easily arrive at the place, when are deciding where to eat even in your own city it helps you, when you need to share your location to help your friends find you the same. I love also writing reviews about places and restaurants, I try to go to the point with the objective pros and cons to help others decide when going what to choose. But above all, I love sharing photos of the food I eat, I have like 2 million visualizations or more… It’s astonishing…
I don’t know you but I always tell friends and show them my Local Guide profile and try to motivate them to also become one local guide (I achieve with a lot of friends) and some days we meet just to go walking and add new things to Google Maps.
I have also create in my job a list of the best hidden places in Barcelona to eat based on the best 3 spots of my workmates, I design the logos for each category and share with every new client that shows up in the job. They love it!

When I am looking at your map do you have some system when do you use stars, flags or hearts as symbols on your Google Map? I see mostly stars, few flags and zero hearts on your map. I personally do use hearts for places where my friend’s houses or flats are. Stars for places where I have been already and flags for places where I want to go in the future.
By the way, you can tag Connect members in your posts by writing @ before their nickname. This way they receive a notification and know that you are trying to communicate with them directly.
I mostly use the same way as yours. But these icons are from a map that I create at my job with my workmates. They told me their preferred hidden places in Barcelona and then I designed some flat design icons and added in the map. Just to be more visual icons that the ones the Google map creator offered.
The cool thing is that we can share with our clients this map and they can have a good time after the meetings in one of our curated hidden places.
