Cenotaph of Maharaja Gangadhar Rao, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, India

Raja Gangadhar Rao’s Cenotaph is a Samadhi built by his beloved and brave queen Maharani Lakshmi Bai in 1853 AD. As Gangadhar Rao was the ruler of Jhansi, whose rule was from 1843-1853. It is located near the Mahalakshmi temple near Lakshmi Lake in Jhansi Uttar Pradesh.

This Samadhi is located in a rectangular compound surrounded by a wall with lawns and flowers. This Samadhi is a square built with sandstone on a high platform.

The structure and architecture of this Samadhi is inspired by Mughal architecture with three arches on each side and stone roof. There are stone hanging outs above the beams and below the roof which are supported by attractive stone brackets.

This Samadhi is located in a very serene environment and is a beautiful stone structure. The garden complex is built octagonal domed minarates at all the four corners. Boundary wall centres are decorated with arches. Entrance is an archway. Visiting this Samadhi is a tribute and homage to the great freedom fighter and brave queen Maharani Lakshmi Bai.

interesting story @rizbab28 I am amazed by the people in the past who built something magnificent for their loved ones. It is still the same nowadays, but it seems not as fantastic as before in terms of the shape and size of the building!
