Waheguruji ka khalsa, Waheguruji ki fateh
Hello dear Connect LGs,
I am from India,
We, Sikhs all over the world, are celebrating the divine 550th Birth Year of Guru Nanak Dev ji as “Prakash Purab”.This year, the Grand Celebration started from June 2019, when Gurudwara Sri Nanak Jhira Sahib (Bidar Karnataka India), started Prakash Purab on a special bus, decorated with Guru Granth Sahib & with Panj Pyare, along with a few devotees. They travelled all over India, so that everyone one can get Darshan and seek blessings of Guru Granth Sahib. Whichever route the bus went, beyond any Cast and Creed, people welcomed them with flowers, which were showered from the top. They were back to Bidar in September 2019.
In Mumbai, at Andheri East, we Sikhs did warm welcome collectively, on 12th August. School student with school band welcomed them. Thousands of people got darshan & blessings. I also bought silver coin of 550th year’s Celebration on 12th August
Then on 23rd September in Mumbai, From Pakistan Kartarpur Guru Granth Sahib Palki came in decorated bus. Grand welcome was arranged at Linking Road Bandra, School band, NCC band, Maratha band, Police band and Girls took part in the procession. We also got darshan of Khadav (wooden foot wear), Weapons used by Guru Nanak Devji, which were kept in a special glass bus. We we’re blessed to seek blessings of all these things. After prayers & langar,at Gurdwara Dhan Pothovar Nagar Santacruz the bus moved ahead to next destination. After visiting all over India, it returned back to Kartarpur Pakistan.
On 9th November 2019, the “Kartarpur Corridor” was inaugurated and every day 5000 pilgrims were allowed to go through the corridor to seek the blessings at Karatarpur Gurudwara. Sikhs from not only India, but also from Canada, US, & many other European countries are coming to Gurudwara for the Darshan of 550th year.
In Mumbai at the end of October, we started going to Prabat Pheri early morning at 5.30. We used to gather at Gurudwara and then from there, the Sangat (group of people) used to move on road in large numbers. First Panj Pyare ( 5 Guru ka Sikh) will lead with a decorated bus with the Guru Granth Sahib. The devotees walk by singing God’s Hymns (Sahbad) on road.
The route and the list of names of homes to be visited are given in advance. At every house, a warm welcome was given by the family members. There the Granthi (Priest) does Ardas & Kada Prasad is distributed amongst every one. Then tea, snacks was served, it continued this for many days. On 10th November, there was grand procession, which end at Gurudwara. At Gurudwara, Akhand Path (continued reading of Guru Granth Sahib) started & on 12th November, which ended with the Bhog of Akhand Path (3rd day they finish reading Guru Granth Sahib).
On Prakash Purab day ,We Sikhs go to Gurudwara morning & evening to listen to Kirtan and have Guru ka Langar (food). We sit together in line and have langar; whether rich or poor, we all have it together - your head should be covered with cloth in every Gurdwara and while having langar.
