Celebrating the Local Everywhere

My region received record snowfalls this winter. My novice sledder and I went out in search of the best sledding hills in the area. Discovering a fantastic sledding hill is an accomplishment sweetest when shared (as I did via a review). This is what I love about being a Local Guide.

Celebrating Local Everywhere

I’m passionate about celebrating the fantastic people and places in our everyday life (like the perfect sledding hill). I joined Local Guides because I was intrigued by the idea of contributing to this vibrant community celebrating the local everywhere. During my time as a local guide I’ve grown to love the community and the special connections it creates. Having lived in both rural and urban areas, I’ve seen how Local Guides celebrates the local everywhere. Local Guide content has helped me find the best restaurants in a new city, and I want to pay it forward helping others discover the hidden gems around them. As a librarian I’m professionally passionate about connecting people to information. Contributing as a Local Guide is a natural extension of this passion. I aim to make the hard to find easier for the next person.

I really enjoy adding some of the first content to a new listing. I aim to visit new stores and restaurants shortly after they open. I want to learn about them and help other discover these new businesses through Local Guides contributions. My nerdiness shines through when I get a bit giddy about contributing one of the first pictures of a new place.

Capturing Character and Personality

Listing of locations hours and contact information is incredible helpful. However, I am passionate about going the basic details by capturing character and personality in my photos and reviews. I find this challenge extra rewarding. For example, a favorite restaurant of mine is 715. While the food is great, what sets 715 apart is the restaurant’s character and personality. Dining here is not just eating food, it is an experience. In my review of 715 I encourage potential visitors to check out 715’s social media pages for daily menus and a dose of the restaurant’s humor.
