Happy New Year, Local Guides! Over the years, you and millions of Local Guides around the world have shared your world on Google Maps and Connect. You’ve helped people everywhere make the best decisions about the food worth eating, the businesses worth visiting, the places worth seeing, and the things worth doing.
In 2023, you spent a whopping 3,700,000 minutes online with us here on Connect, but also connected with fellow Local Guides offline in over 160 meet-ups worldwide.
Meanwhile, on Google Maps, over 20 million new places were added and more than 500 million photos and videos were shared. You celebrated billions of photo views, hundreds of published lists, and much more. Watch the video below to see some of your proudest moments:

As a local guide, I met two fellow local guides from Sri Lanka during my visit in August 2023. I met @AnuradhaP and @ravindus . I am proud of being a local guide that enables me to meet friends all over the world.

There’s a lot I loved about being a Local Guide this year and to be proud of, like celebrating another Argentina Local Guides birthday, but in a more personal and contribution focused way, I am very proud of getting to more than 200 million views on my places added! I can’t believe so many people were looking for places I added
Happy new year. I don’t know if the following things are worth it to be proud of, but I managed it to add a public bottle bank in my neighbourhood and secondly I managed it to participate in the challenge of december 2023: it was a type of challenge I could participate in, as I could use reviews for participating.

The proud moment for me in 2023 was the highest number of local guides in Pune coming together in person to share Google Maps experiences and knowledge, new features, tips, and tricks.
It was certainly a proudest moment for me to be a part of this video along with @Shrut19 tai, representing my fellow Indian Local Guides. Also, congratulations to my other global friends for featuring in this video.

2024 bring abundance of happiness in every one’s life.
My proudest moment in 2023 when it comes to the local guides program was being featured (in June) in a newsletter Google sent to local guides all over the globe to encourage them to make edits on Google Maps.
Several friends and colleagues at work reached out to me when they got the mail and in general the stream of messages and mails was overwhelming. I was really happy that links were included to the Local Guides Clean The Map project and the LetsGuide Podcast.
. It’s nice to see our local guide friends doing great work here. I hope we will achieve much better and better things together…
