Celebrating My Birthday With Local Guides At The Global Virtual Meetup

I attended the Global Local Guides Virtual Meetup organized by @marcorp on April 26th which was coincidentally also my birthday! It was so surprising and memorable to get birthday wishes from many local guides including @Jesi @Cecilita @ValeriaA @JanVanHaver @AlexandreCampbell and many others, as well as a birthday song from @marcorp !

The meetup itself was great because I got to learn more about / meet over 20 local guides from all around the world (from places such as India, Argentina, Peru, Bangladesh, just to name a few) and learn how they contribute to Google Maps.

We started the meetup with introductions about where everyone was from, how they got started with Local Guides / how they contribute, and any other ways they help, such as through Crowdsource or Product Experts.

The conversation later turned to how we are doing during COVID-19 and our lifestyle changes during quarantine. Many local guides described new things they are experiencing like cooking and how they are staying healthy through excersizing. It was also helpful to hear tips on ways to continue contributing to Google Maps.

This was the first virtual meetup I attended and I hope to continue doing so!

@Cecilita Yes! It would be cool to create a meetup for LG’s who have birthdays in a certain month and spend time singing Happy Birthday to them in different languages :joy:
