Celebrating Moroccan Foods

Last Summer I had the amazing opportunity to explore Morocco on my 12 day trip around the country. I have visited multiple amazing destinations including Fez, Rabat, Tangier, Chefchaouen and as usual, the food took a big part in my exploration of the local culture. And with the prices 3-4 times cheaper than United Kingdom where I live, what is there not to love. Now if you think you will not find tasty, amazing food in Morocco, think again…

The first city I visited, Rabat has introduced me with more tourist-friendly flavors of Morocco. As I am a huge fan of creamy chicken and mushrooms this truly exceeded my expectations. I still remember the flavors looking at this photo. So if you are skeptical about what is available just look at this…

A small town called Meknes had us sitting in a family house for about 3 hours waiting for the food to be prepared. But this gave us an opportunity to relax, drink traditional green tea and socialize… I actually hardly used my phone!

Was it worth the 3 hours wait? Yes, just look at this beauty.

Then we spent a fair amount of time in Fes, a city which I didn’t expect to fall in love as much as I actually did.

‘Cafe Clock’ popular with tourists was a good choice, solely because of this almond milkshake, best milkshake I ever had without exaggerating. Next day I came back just for this milkshake… No regrets.

Moving to the more metropolitan city of Morocco - Tangier. Decided to please ourselves with some beautiful looking desserts. I can say this dessert place was one of the best I have been to. The Moroccans had a huge variety of different desserts available from banana crepes to oreo cheesecakes. I genuinely miss this place so much right now…

And would my trip be complete without tasting traditional ‘Tagine’? This was a superb preparation, worth taking a photo. Tender and full of flavor, the dish made me a very happy girl for the day.

And on our last day, it was a diet day. Just kidding, I don’t even class this as a diet, this salad was absolutely delicious… but I did need a diet after the trip.

All in all, would I like to come back? Absolutely, and not just for the beautiful, affordable and tasty food, but for the scenic views of the country itself. We had the possibility to eat in rooftop terraces, watch the stunning sunsets, breathe the fresh air and recharge on the tasty cuisine of Morocco.

I am fascinated by the Moroccan kitchen and the beauty of this wonderful country and all my expectations were completely exceeded.
