Celebrating Desert - Rann of Kachchh, Gujarat, India

I attended Rann Utsav on 26th Dec.

Rann Utsav is an awesome festival in Kachchh region of Bhuj district of Gujarat, India. It is a Carnival of Music, Dance, natural beauty of White Rann, and much more than that. The place is even more mesmerizing when visited under the full Moon night.

It’s a Family holiday destination with tonnes of fun moments that you can store in cameras for life time. This festival is for you if you enjoy nature, local / regional cultures, regional cuisines, hand weaved garments, handcrafted bags, handicrafts for decors.

You can also enjoy other activities include like Golf Cart, ATV Ride, Camel Cart Excursion, Paramotoring, Meditation, Yoga and Enjoying Gujarati Culture.

We also stayed Bhunga (round shaped mud houses). These are traditional houses made of natural materials. Despite being desert cold, inside temperature is pleasant. Although, there are five-star facility tent available as well.

This was a life time experience and I strongly recommend every one to visit this. Never thought that desert could be celebrated. Such a visionary fest to promote local culture and promote tourism. If you come across such discussion then it may most likely be White / Salt desert of Kachchh region of Gujarat in India. This is about 7500 km² and is one of the largest salt deserts in the world.

Generally organized from Nov -March.

@PoliMC we were there around 5:30PM to watch sunset because thats very beautiful. Post which we wore local costumes to pose for pics, enjoyed local cultural performances. Viewing point was closed in some time after sunset so we returned to place of exhibitions and stalls by horse cart. This was 2.5 kms from viewing point and automobile entry is restricted there. More than 500 of local artists were exhibiting and selling handicrafts, local cuisines. We were there in shopping place till 10:30PM. We then decided to head back to our tent house - traditional round houses made of mud / stones (bhunga). The houses were so naturally warm and fresh that we did not feel need of ac, despite being in desert cold area. We got up early around 6AM, had a great breakfast and headed for return. I would recommend to visitors that they plan for 2 days for this festival to explore it in full.

Thank you once again for your interest.
