Google maps has become one of my most used apps in recent years, especially on mobile phones. I find myself opening the app almost every time I want to do anything within my country or whenever am out there traveling. So you can imagine how excited I was when I heard they were revamping the looks to categorize and organize stuff during their 15th birthday.
I’ve now been in New York for almost a month and believe me when I say this, my trip here is successful because of Google Maps. Those who have been here can tell you just how hard and confusing the subway system is. For a first timer in New York, things can be very confusing especially moving around, makes me think of Sheep in the Big City. But thanks to Google Maps, I am able to navigate efficiently and plan for my visits around the city much much more effectively. Easy to say I could never live in a world without Google Maps.
So to celebrate their birthday, Google Maps were giving away freebies at Flatiron Plaza, near the Madison Square and I wouldn’t have missed that in a thousand years. First because I just love Google Maps and this awesome Local Guides community. If you’ve never been told this, You people are awesome and I love you guys so much for doing this much to contribute and make maps a better place, one review at a time. So anything that would bring me closer to this awesome community and make my contribution has and will always be on top of my to do list. Long story short, I went to Flatiron Plaza in hopes of meeting fellow local guides and Googlers. I was not disappointed even one bit.
The picture above shows the stage where the Google Pin was. People went there to unlock a gift from Google and take pictures.
There was an artist who drew pictures of people for free. The picture is as awesome as the artist and I love it. The artist’s instagram username is @zachthemangaka.
Oh! And I got a gift from Google Maps
in the envelop I received from the Google Map Pin. Am heading to The Citizens of Chelsea for a free latte. How cool is that. Thank you Google Maps.
I had a great time and thought it was worth sharing with you guys. This is my first post in 2020. Hopefully many more to come. If you made it all the way to this line, thank you. You are awesome.
