Celebrate world eyeglasses Day with me 😎🤓

18 th March is a World Eyeglasses Day

Eyeglasses are a tool used to correct vision defects or protect the eyes from harmful rays. They typically consist of two circular, oval, or differently shaped lenses made of glass or plastic, which are mounted in a frame with openings for the lenses. The frame is designed to sit comfortably on the nose, with arms extending towards the ears to hold the glasses in place. When the lenses are fitted correctly, they provide the necessary vision correction.

History
Greek and Roman authors mention the use of water-filled glass vessels to magnify objects, as described by Claudius Ptolemy in 150 AD. In ancient times, religious scholars used thick lenses while reading and copying manuscripts. In 1282, a clergyman named Nicholas Bullett used eyeglasses to sign a contract. Roger Bacon is credited with the invention of eyeglasses, as he suggested that transparent crystals or glass could help people with poor eyesight. However, Marco Polo recorded that the Chinese were using lenses for vision correction around 1270.
Concave lenses became popular in the 15th century, benefiting those with nearsightedness. Eyeglasses evolved significantly over time. Lenses were mounted in frames, and in 1827–1830, Edward Scarlett introduced the concept of adding temples (arms) to secure them over the ears. By 1749, telescope-like glasses were in use, and in 1806, single-lens eyewear became common. The use of double-lens glasses with a spring mechanism was introduced in 1840.
The idea of contact lenses was first proposed by Sir John Herschel in 1845. German scientist Müller successfully demonstrated the protective use of contact lenses for diseased corneas. Swiss physician Eugène Fick later coined the term “contact lenses.”

Nice shoot and what about Zeiss lens in the store?

Excellent post and review :+1: @Supriyadevkar

My association with eye glass is 50+ years.
This is because I had myopic vision by birth.
So un LKG my parents realized that I had vision issues in the class.
At the age of 6, I got my pair of glasses.

I also remember they used to put an elastic band around the back so that the specks don’t fall while playing

Yes, exactly - the scratches.
Glass specs can break.
Plastic specs get scratched.
Difficult life

Ich trage immer nur Brillen mit Kunststoffgläsern weil sie leichter und für mich angenehmer im Tragen sind.

Completely agree @Annaelisa
I wear plastic lenses because they are lightweight.
The glass lenses I used for decades caused a dent in the nose.
I had those dents for many years and almost a permanent mark on my face
