Today is celebrated and viewed as International Plastic Free Day to raise awareness of using plastics and pollution it creates. IPFD is a global initiative which was made to remember how plastic is detrimental to our planet and to promote awareness to reduce use of single-use plastics.
As Local Guides, we discover, share and contribute to Google Maps. Our common goal for our community and environment would make our voice heard as part of sustainability and would be powerful for change.
How can we work for the “Plastic Free Initiative" as a Local Guide?
Reviewing Local Sustainable Businesses - Whether it’s a dessert shop or a coffee shop, include use of plastic free ways in the business in your review. For example: use of paper cups, straws, plates and takeaway bags.
Upload photos to Google Maps - Whether it would be a sign board showing “No plastic usage” or “paper bags or cups only” or “eco friendly sign photos”, Share those photos to contribute for Eco Friendliness in Google Maps.
Participate in @KetanChhaniyara’s Challenge called Ditch the Plastic Spoons where the challenge focuses on showcasing businesses which use wooden or metal spoons instead of plastic ones.
Share how you contribute to “Plastic Free Initiative” on Google Maps. Also share your ideas on how we can better contribute to Eco Friendliness or Sustainability Google Maps. sustainability local-business
Good post @Rahul001
(Tea time with me) this is my recent post on chai pe charcha and in this stall everything is eco friendly even the food items are served on banana leaf.
I strongly believe in this… single use plastic can be very dangerous…
Of course, cost effectiveness keeps the single use plastics in the retail market…
We need to create more cost effective substitute and it’s awareness to common man…
Your post is really classic…
Thanks for sharing
Thanks @Rahul001 for your writing about plastic fee day, as well as encouraging people to use biodegradable products instead of plastic in there daily lives in every country.
However, my impression is that the post includes too many references that may create disillusionment about the main topic. For example, “Clean the World” seems unrelated to me here.
Instead, I think the Sustainability initiative by Dr. @K.K.Sharma is more relevant here.
But I got it, buddy, “look out for businesses that are plastic-free with eco-frinedly practices, and add/update them on Google Maps”
Thank you @Gouri.PS for your valuable comment and words . Small local Resturants like that are more eco friendly in our community which uses Banana leaves as you mentioned!
Thank you @TravellerG for your valuable comment and words . Absolutely true what you said. Another fact is : it’s much greater cost to Recycling plastic products into another products than producing a new plastic. So most businesses inclines into single use plastics which is cost effective than getting a recycled plastic or even eco friendly products.
Thank you @Pankaj_Sarker for your valuable comment and words . Some biodegradable products have thin layer of plastics even to avoid leakage of Foods & Drinks. But as technology grows, we found a way to include biodegradable plastic layer into that!
@Rahul001 Love this initiative! It’s so vital to spotlight those businesses making a real effort. It’s awesome to see how Local Guides can genuinely drive change, one eco-friendly review at a time.
You said it well…
But, there are changes happening…it will take a lot of time…
Thanks for your valuable companionship, dear @Rahul001
Regards with prayers

You always put extra efforts and appreciate the efforts of all without any bias.
