Today is the International Day of forest. It is celebrated to raise awareness of the importance of forests to people and their vital role in poverty eradication, environmental sustainability and food security.
Forests are an essential part of our planet, covering nearly one-third of the Earth’s land area. They sustain biodiversity, provide livelihoods for millions, and play a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance. Forests regulate oxygen and carbon dioxide levels, control humidity, and protect freshwater sources that feed into rivers and lakes. They are also home to countless species of wildlife, making them indispensable for the survival of many ecosystems.
the International Day of Forests serves as a reminder of our responsibility to protect and restore forests. Planting trees, conserving natural habitats, and promoting sustainable forest management are crucial steps toward maintaining the planet’s ecological balance and ensuring a greener future for generations to come.
