Catch Carmen Sandiego with a new game on Google Earth

You may have noticed something new when you open Google Maps on your computer: Carmen Sandiego is on the loose! Your mission? Catch her before she sneaks off with London’s Crown Jewels.

We’re excited to announce a new partnership between the creators of the educational mystery game “Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?” and Google Earth. The video game launched in the 1980s (hence the pixelated homage) and had several popular TV shows with geographical trivia, music, and of course, adventures!

Check out the video below:

The goal of the game is to search the world for the elusive Sandiego, a super thief known for snatching the world’s most famous treasures. In Google Earth, you’ll dive into different cities and pick up clues by talking to people at historic landmarks.

Ready to hit the pavement, super sleuth? Just click on the Carmen Sandiego illustration on Google Maps on your computer, or look for the special edition Pegman icon in Google Earth for Chrome, Android, and iOS.

Thank you for sharing @TiffanyL99 , its a short nice game that tests a bit of how much you know about the world and the countries.

I played it yesterday while Instagram, Twitter and Facebook were down

I really loved to play the video game when I was a child!!!

@TiffanyL99 I am playing it now. Just started a while ago by seeing it on Google Maps. Seems I will have to work hard to get Carmen Sandiego. But I am on it.

This is really cool. The modern voyage of Google Earth, plus the text in blocks that remind me of the old Oregon Trail.

Thanks for the notice @TiffanyL99 . With Google, user engagement ever stops.

Love this classic game. I always play this during the 80s. I’m glad and excited to see it on Google Maps.
