Hello everyone! I’m Samir, from Colombia. Let me introduce you one of the most incredible cities you could visit as a tourist, Cartagena de Indias. A fantastic town where you will experience romance with your partner at the highest level. This place has such a positive feeling of love that may embrace the most skeptic couple towards experiencing what love affair, excitement and passion might be.
Every time you walk streets in Cartagena, pirates, Spaniard soldiers, native people, slaves, etc. will slightly accompany that feeling of transporting yourself to a historic, colonial era in which battleships, cannons, gold were part of conquering new territories.
In Cartagena, you may enjoy astonishing sites where you can relax, have fun, eat, have a drink, hang out or dance. I recommend you some cool places I’ve visited like Bourbon St. , Alquimico , Cafe del mar Cartagena, etc. where night wraps you up and takes you to another dimension until you forget about worries.
What I love the most about being a Local Guide is that I can promote tourism in my country. In such a way, I can encourage the tourism industry and boost economy in Colombia. This is a manner to get people closer to the wonders we have in here. It is known globally the reputation Colombia has in terms of security is not the most attractive for tourists. We’ve been immersed in an internal conflict that has relegated visitors to enjoy the beautiful landscapes we own. Thus, I’m using this platform to tell you it has changed during the last decade. We are not suffering from that armed war in the streets anymore. Hence, tourists are more than welcome whenever they want to come. The conflict is still active, but is taking place in remote sites like in the jungle and hopefully the peace process with the rebels will succeed. So, I’m asking you not to be afraid and visit us.
I’m a person who likes nature, relaxing places, sports (supporter of one of the best football clubs in the world Manchester United), music (fan of Champeta music, a genre whose roots come from the joyful African rhythms. Vallenato music, a type of music whose main instrument is the German accordion, which our great, great, grandpartents adapted to create this wonderful musical genre. Bullerengue music and Porro Pelayero music, both using instruments brought by the African slaves in ancient times, and some other varied musical genres original from the country), dancing, food (sea food, Italian food, Asian food), theater, cinema, and over all, I’m a person who wants to help reduce the cultural breach by connecting the world through pictures, videos and reviews on Google maps.
Definitely, what started as reviewing a place I visited, turned out to be an active contributor (Local Guide 5) to the majestic places existing in Colombia
