Carpathian walnut

Autumn came to my fishing areas, the walnut was left without leaves and without nuts, the pond was left without fish, I only caught a Zander

Nice photo @To_paul .
The lake appears like a canal.

Is it connected to some river? Where do all the fish migrate?

Beautiful landscape @To_paul . Please what is a Zander. I presume it is a type of Fish but it is not common in Africa and particularly in the tropics. Can you share a picture of it here with us on connect.

Hi @Prejith

I am glad you like the photo, initially I did not want to add it, yesterday it was the east wind and it made waves on the surface of the water.

Thank you very much.

Hi @C_T

in that area there was a huge lake with an area of 7,420 ha, by 1948 the communist regime dried up most of the lake with the help of a network of canals, the canals all communicate through a pumping station with the Prut river, the station regulates the water level in soil because there is agriculture there and when it rains too much and the land becomes too saturated with water the station draws water and pours into the river, when there is no water in the ground the station draws water from the river and raises the water level in the canals.
The sport fishing organization I belong to takes care of all the natural waters in the county and annually populates with tons of fish these canals, but the industrial fishermen who also fish in the Prut and the Danube take advantage of the gaps in the legislation and put fish nets and gather everything fish and irrigation canals

Thanks a lot

Hi @Austinelewex

The Zander is considered one of the most valuable food fish native to Europe, but it is very difficult to catch it, it is a predator fish that lurks in the water.

It was easier and faster to search for images with Zander using Google, but I see you have waited. You probably wanted to know about Zander from credible sources. Ha
ha haha ha @Austinelewex

Very nice and peaceful photo @To_paul , and the thought of fishing takes me back!

I’m not a very good fisherman and have only caught a few small ones, but for me it’s the whole feeling of sharing a good experience with close friends in peaceful surroundings that counts. We usually go to places referred to as “put and take” lakes in Denmark and there’s always plenty of fish around.

Groups of people gather around the lake and spend the whole day fishing, eating and drinking beer. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Do you have the same concept in Romania?

Hi @MortenSI

In Belgium I saw something that resembles Put & Take Lakes.
I do not like lakes overpopulated by the owner with fish.
I like to fish alone in natural waters and in quiet areas, if it can be wild it is better, I prefer fishing for raptors with artificial lures.
There are two fishing places near my town, ZĂTUN where groups of people go fishing, drinking and steak all day and staying overnight, a kind of relaxation, I bypass such places. La Salcami
I know that Scandinavia is full of wild fish, I fished a little and there, you should try also on natural waters, close to cities.
Thank you very much

I see @To_paul , you like the peace and quiet and having the lake to yourself. I can fully understand that. As I’m not very good at actually catching the fish and I lose my focus quite quickly, I really enjoy the company of others.

In Denmark we mostly fish in the freshwater lakes and rivers in the mainland. There are plenty of opportunities to go to open waters but it’s my feeling that only very experienced people do that as the rocky waters can be a challenge.

Hi @MortenSI

in many areas I lose my patience, maybe faster than normal.
I also had friends in the past whose company I enjoy fishing, but have long left in other countries such as Italy, Portugal, Germany, USA, Belgium, England.
Now I learn to fish different new people, as well as I learn from others.
Thanks

Good company can make or break a fishing trip for me @To_paul . but I completely understand the urge to enjoy the silence and having the lake to yourself.

Meeting new people is also a great part of it, and if you can actually learn something new, that would make it worth your while I think.
