For the longest time, I had always been wondering who posted the reviews and pictures on Google that I benefit from so much. After I got my Pixel 2 in 2017, I realized the power of grassroots contribution from average people was within my reach. I was so excited to start posting pictures and reviews as a local guide, and a year later, my pictures received over 1 million views, which I did not expect at all. The sense of accomplishment and empowerment is hard to describe with words. Most of all, I truly feel I am making contribution to the society.
Having lived in the Greater Washington Area for almost 15 years, I have enjoyed discovering the different neighborhoods in D.C., attending culture-specific events, discovering restaurants and local parks in the nearby Maryland and Virginia. Best of all, it’s the home of the 2018 Stanley Cup Champion the Washington CAPITALS. Being a huge fan, attending the championship parade was a surreal experience for me with hundreds of thousands of fans dressed in red standing on the National Mall, revisiting the playoff journey together as a family. Although the “Back to back” hope did not become reality, there is always next season and as a fan I will always believe in the Caps. This year, I went to the last home game of Caps. It was a special one because it was against Islanders and their coach was Caps’ previous coach Barry Trotz. The game itself was in no means important because both teams were clinched a playoff spot at the time; However it was still exciting. Washington D.C. isn’t just about politics. It’s also home to cultural diversity, museums, sports enthusiasm, and unlimited possibilities. And I’m excited to show the world more about this amazing area.
