Cape Towns Annual Zombie Walk

On the Closest saturday to Halloween , Cape Town hosts an event called the Zombie walk.

This event is the for fundraising that a local cattery Called Lucy Lucy.
A week before the event , a Gathering spot is given out to the hordes pf Zombies waiting to roam the streets in search of brains.

The event is Free , just dress up as a Zombie , come and meet all the other zombies
The route around the City centre is demarcated and them the zombies can roam around a bit.
Donation tins for the Lucy lucy foundation are passed around during the walk.
Most of the time they have a late afternoon walk , out of the heat .

After the march many of the older naughter Zombies head off to Night clubs in the area with halloween parties
And so whats the object of this ? Its fun , its safe , and around 4000 people pitch up every year , all ages , all sexes , and all races. Thee kids love it
I have been covering this event for a number of years now , and mainly because I love the charity , Lucky Lucy.

I had to remove the audio off this movie of mine as i used a song without an artists permission

. And you can either remove the music , or leave it and the artist gets any money made off your video.
I also have loads of fun taking photos and I have started filming these events , Yes I am supporting and helping the event , but i also gain valuable practice , and as well as a Good Reputation. This event helps me meet new clients , I network , collaborate and introduce loads of new people to my Photography Website

Thanks for sharing, @Mongoose . That’s a really interesting tradition. Dressing up for a cause has always brought the attention in its rightful spot.

Tell us a bit more about the Lucy Lucy cattery. About 4000 people get involved?! That’s a lot, the place must really be famous.

The Zombie walk is Free for anyone to join in and have fun.

This is Lucky Lucys main fund raising income . The Cattery is set up and run by volunteers , they sterilize and take in , and house hundreds of kittens and stray cats every year.

The Lucky Lucy Foundation is a Registered Non-Profit ( NPO: 091-636 | PBO: 930-036-404), Pro-life, Pro-Quality of Life organization that tries to relieve the plight of severely neglected and abused township and street animals. We are all about the social upliftment and education of impoverished children and adults in and around Cape Town, and have been since inception in 2010

The Zombie Walk is also done in a few other big cities around the world , each one having its own cause or some just going out and scaring people around halloween. Its a bit of an anomaly here in South Africa as halloween is not really celebrated . So when 4000 people turn up to this event ( I think this last year was the 6th one ) and as you can see , the effort and make up is incredible…
