Cape Peninsula & surrounds, Cape Town

Cape Peninsula is unique in its beauty because it combines Mountains, Oceans with wonderful fauna and flora. People who visit Cape Town are surprised at the scenic beauty and first world infrastructure in a city in Africa. The Cape Peninsula is one of the most beautiful tours one can ever undertake in the world as it provides you with absolute nature in a City that is almost 360 years old. When you leave the city you drive along the Atlantic seaboard which takes you through many coastal suburbs and over many mountain passes. Driving around Chapmans Peak is probably the most scenic drive in the world. With all this beauty the Old Apartheid Government deliberately excluded the indigenous people from history and start with the arrival of the Dutch settles in the 16th century, however for 2500 years prior to the settlers arriving a very successful community was farming and hunting in the Cape of Good Hope and they were called Khoisan. They comprised two tribes namely KHOI KHOI and SAN people. The dutch usurped the land and fought with the locals and needed to ship Slaves from the East Indies to assist them in constructing and developing the Cape of Good hope. Along this route the history is retold until we arrive at Cape Point and the Cape of Good hope. The Cape of Good Hope was named by King Juan II when he commissioned an explorer by the name of Bartholomew Dias to sale to the end of the African continent in 1488. Visiting the Penguin Colony at Boulders beach is a real delight for many visitors and the careful management of the endangered African Penguin is evident in the board walks that separate us form them. Simonstown is an historic town that was established in 1688 to support the ships which came into the bay to seek shelter from the winter storms.
