Located in the Northeast of Vietnam, Cao Bang is a mountainous province with 6,707.6 km2 of natural land area, including 12 districts and 01 provincial city and 199 villages, towns. The province is adjacent to Guangxi (China) in the north and the north-east, to Tuyen Quang Province and Ha Giang Province in the west, to Bac Kan and Lang Son Provinces to the south
What to see in Cao Bang
- Ban Gioc Waterfalls
Spreading out on the border with China, Ban Gioc waterfalls is no doubt the number one attraction in Cao Bang with the 4thrank in size among the largest waterfalls in the worlds. Ban Gioc Waterfall is over 200m wide and the water crashes from a height of 70m over 3 sections, which creates an imposing and poetic scenery and a mighty roar echoing across the land like the call from the past. The cascading water set against the back of the immense mountain is a uniquely captivating sight.
- Nguom Ngao cave
Ban Gioc Waterfall and Nguom Ngao Cave discovery is the un-missed combo for a trip to Cao Bang. Nguom Ngao Cave is just a short distance from Ban Gioc, stretching over 2 km with 3 doors: Nguom Ngao and Ban Lom Nguom Nguom. The cave is abundant in stalactites and stalagmites in differing shapes and sizes. Their forms appear from the cliff face and depict mythical creatures or magical scenes.
The name itself comes from Tay language which roughly means ‘Tiger Cave’. Tay people believe that there used to be tigers inhabiting the cave and catching pets. When exploring the cave, people were surprised at the amazingly beautiful scenes of rock formations.
- Thang Hen Lake
Thang Hen Lake is freshwater lake in a tranquil valley in the middle of rocky and forested mountains in the commune of Quoc Toan in the Tra Linh district of the province of Cao Bang.
The lake’s name in Tay’s language means: bee tail as the lake looks like the bee tail when looking down. In the sunny days, the brightness from the sun seems to make the blue turquoise and the green trees deeper. Visiting here, visitors can take a voyage around the lake on small wooden boats waiting on the shores.
- Pac Bo Cave
Pac Bo Cave has a particularly historical meaning in the national revolution in Vietnam. The relic belongs to the commune of Pac Bo in Ha Quang district or at 55km from the north of the city of Cao Bang.
Visitors can have chance to learn about a heroic stages in Vietnam history through a lot of vestiges: memorial house of Uncle Ho, Pac Bo cave, cave of Lung Lan, cave of Nguom Vai source of Lenin, stone table where Uncle Ho worked….
In the past, Uncle Ho used to spend his days writing poetry and reading and translating the texts of leaders he admired.
