I have been trying to update a road segment (round about) for more than a year now, with edits either being approved or denied, but the routing, directions not changing correctly. I just got back another edit successful, but it has not resolved the directions problem completely. I submitted this edit on June 24th, just got the notice back today, July 26th.
The issue is that the road segments are not completed correctly and this caused bad directions either going/coming or both ways or just one way now.
Now at least ONE direction is fixed with this last edit.
To recreate the problem, please use these two addresses:
Calle Jorge Guillén, 26, 21400 Ayamonte, Huelva, Spain
Lidl, Av. de la Constitución, s/n, 21400 Ayamonte, Huelva, Spain
and then toggle the to and from direction to see the issue with incorrect routing.
Notice that going from the apartment complex to Lidl supermarket is very long and complicated, on dirt roads even!
This is incorrect and not advisable, it’s a camino, see where this is incorrect from the street view?
Even google wouldn’t go this way! I’ve driven it, and it’s not a pleasant experience.
Now, notice that when you do the return trip, it is NOW correctly routed with the last road edit, at least in one direction.
I think the map editing tools need to be adjusted that allow for finer tuning, control over how directions are routed and roads are prioritized. I have tried in app and on desktop editor. My experience trying to help maps resolve this over the course of a year haven’t been great. I’ve since moved from Spain and have given up on this edit, as I am now convinced it will require google’s help to resolve. This should have been a 5 minute adjustment to the maps, completed years ago, not requiring another 10+ minutes to detail the issue in a post.
There are many people who live in the communities on the other side of this round about, as well as it being a popular summer destination. I can’t imagine how many people have taken this incorrect road while trusting google maps to get them to the correct location in the most efficient manner.
Taking this camino/dirt road for 30+ minutes out of the way, is a problem to say the least.
Anyone able to help? Much appreciated. TIA
