Can't fix this name.

Hi @JanVanHaver ,

I started my “Clean the map” process here in La Maddalena where I spend most of the time and where I know almost all the shopkeeper.

There is one shop that “resist” to my edit… it is called Dolci Distrazioni, Ice Cream shop. The name is in CAPITAL LETTERS and I tried to modify it (as I already did for many others) but, despite the reviewing email, it is still there.

I did it many months ago but, not seeing any results, I did it again.

All the other changes I had made at the same time have been approved and updated. What should I do? Simply wait or am I making some mistake?

Hi @MarcoDavoli

I tried to edit the name for you. It just went pending.

Since the place is claimed and managed by the owner you could reach out to them on maps.

And politely remind them of the naming rules found here.

If that does not help, you could try the redressal form found here.

Haha, I did the same, and it is pending, while normally this kind of edit is approved almost instantly, @MortenCopenhagen

The funny thing is that, if you check the photos of the place, the name is not all capital.

Maybe this place is more resistant to the change, @MarcoDavoli , or the AI is protecting the place (maybe victim of a spam attack in the past)

I’ll talk with the new owner (store was sold this January after 13 years) later this afternoon. Is few meters from my house and I’m there everyday.

The former owner was a close friend of me and he is still here training the new people.

Yeap! @ErmesT I did many edits and almost all were approved almost instantly.

But the one that fall in the pending procedure… uhmm better to try again.

It is not all capital letters. I saw also the “partita IVA register”. As wrote to @MortenCopenhagen they are close friend of mine. I use to cook for them tons of pan di spagna for their cake.

You should try them…

I think that, in this case, is a problem generated by the new owner who are managing it like @MortenCopenhagen suggested.

Weeks ago we had a meeting (old and new management) and I mention also this.

Knowing them, I don’t believe they’ll solve it. Anyway I’ll move to Sardinia in may. Have to finish my National Park Streetview project and I’ll have lots to do with local stores.

BUT

I saw that sometimes fixing the name is not as easy and the check Google is doing is purely automatic and, till today, I was not able to have a reply when I highlighted an issue.

This is an example:

If you try to change the name of the office in “Ingrao” the system will refuse it.

Surely they check other informations and, looking at their web site name: “ingraoinc.com” they presume that this is the real name.

But, looking at the website you will understand that the real name is INGRAO.

Any idea on how to proceed when we encounter problems like this?
