Can't add a closeup photo of the store with phone number

I’ve been trying to add the business phone number of a local grocery store, which is clearly visible in the existing photo itself if we zoom into it, but each time Google rejects it for the reason couldn’t verify the edit! So, I decided to add a close-up photo of the name board with the phone number on it. Although it got uploaded, the photo is only visible to me! Phone number I’m trying to add: 09447271423

I’ve faced this issue with other businesses as well. Is there any workaround? Why does this happen? Is it because only business owners could add phone numbers?

I am sorry about your experience, @josephvm

however, looks like your issue is to edit the phone number of the business, not to add a photo of it.

A business owner can indeed add the phone number of a verified business, and this is the best option.

A phone number, to be accepted, need to be verified. Verification means that the number must be accessible in a public online directory, associated to the business name. For more details about the verification process, please read: Why is my edit status “Pending” or “Not Applied”? .

In addition, Google reserve the right to lock Users Generated Contents for specific Categories / Areas / Type of edits. This normally happen because in an are they have found several attempt to add bad data.

If you want to help them to add the phone number, show them how to claim the business in https://www.google.com/business/. With My Business they can also have more control of their page in Google Maps.

Actually, I’m facing both issues. Can’t add the phone number and can’t add that specific photo either!

So, even if the phone number is visible in photos added by users, local guide can’t add it to the place?

Thanks for the Feedback, @josephvm

The photo that you are trying to add is not a closeup photo, but simply a a clipping of a screenshot of your previous photo, with less resolution of the original one. Google is normally not publishing that kind of photos, because they looks like advertisement.

My opinion:

  • Write a better review, instead of a simple “Good behavior and fast delivery”, going deep in your experience about that place, and informing the people that the phone number is visible on the photo of the storefront.
  • Add a good photo of the storefront. Here some tip: Tips for taking storefront photos on Google Maps

Thanks for the suggestion @ErmesT !

What are the criteria for adding the website of a place?

I’ve been trying to add the website of this church and Google rejects it. Any suggestions for that?

The suggestion is not for you, @josephvm , but for the church instead

They have a single place where the church is mixed by another business (a school). For sure the school is owned by them, but for the AI it is probably difficult to say that “this is the website of a church”.

Having a specific page would help. In addition I would like to ask you to remove your link, as it is addressing, as I said before, also to a business

Sorry, I didn’t get it fully. Are you asking to remove the link from the post or from the maps? If it’s from maps, as I mentioned, Google has already rejected it! It’s still unclear for me whether local guides are allowed to add a website to a place or only business owners are allowed to do that!
