Cannot subscribe to new How-to posts

i have been trying to subscribe to how-to topic so that I would get email notifications for new posts.

But can’t seem to make it work. Here is a video show the issue. I turn on the toggle, reload the page, toggle goes to switch off state.

@KatyaL @TheEagleEye I should have probably explained in detail in my second reply. Just to reiterate, problem is still there. The link @TheEagleEye shared allows me to tick boxes to switch a topic on/off from my home page.

It shows me what topics I have some subscribed to. I can only see two. No Matter how many times I try I can’t subscribe to rest of the topic as shown in the video.

I’ve just tried to click the options and I couldn’t replicate your issue.

Is this happening on every device you’re using - mobile and desktop? If you’re using a desktop, have you tried using a different browser, as well as deleting cache and cookies?

It seems like this is a temporary error, but please do let us know when you try on desktop. Please also make sure you understand the difference between homepage settings and email subscriptions on Connect.

I have the same experience. At most, I can subscribe to emails for two topics only.
I suggest you tick-off all subscriptions. Save the settings. Then once again tick the how-twos and any other topic of your choice, and save that. That will remain persistent.

Hi, @C_T I tried unsubscribing all and re-subscribing just How-to. Didn’t persist. It seems I can only subscribe to Announcements and Food & Drink.

@KatyaL To better describe my issue, please check the video below. I took the video after clearing my cache and cookies (everything) on my desktop browser. I have also done the same steps in Chrome browser yielding same results.

In the video, I first try to subscribe to Travel and How-To then refresh the page to see if it persists. But settings don’t persists. Later, I checked all Topics for email subscription but only Food & Drink and Announcements persist.

Is there a limit to how many and which email subscriptions user can have?

Thanks for the detailed video. Please check the below article and be aware that the maximum number of topics from different boards to follow is 10. Please stick to this number. For more detailes, please check out - How to follow your favorite topics on Connect.

Check also your Settings and Advanced Settings > Subscriptions & Notifications > Notification Settings to make sure you marked the options to receive the emails for the topics you subscribed to.

@KatyaL thanks for replying. I have gone through the links you provided.

Following a topic is not an issue for me. I am following most of the topics and I can see them at my homepage.

It’s subscribing to topic that’s not working. Currently I can’t seem to subscribe to any topic other than Announcement and Food & Drinks and thus I don’t get any email when someone posts a new posts are in other topics.

In addition to the information provided by my colleague @KatyaL , first of all we would confirm did you choose the option “All Time” when clearing your cache and cookies?

In order to activate the email subscription you have to do it for the slider that are place under each topic label as you can see on the image below.

Yes, I did choose “All Time” options. I also tried in incognito.

I went through all the topic subscription sliders like in your screenshot, but as per my initial comments , they don’t persists. When I enable it, I can see it’s turned on. But as soon as I reload the page, it goes back to grayed out( turned off). It happens for all topics except Announcements and Food & Drinks.

In your screenshot I can see that you have three email subscription: Local Stories , Food & Drink and Travel. But for me , not matter how many times I try, I can only subscribe to two topics: Announcements and Food & Drinks

Here is the video, I have also tried the same in Desktop Chrome, Edge and Chrome in mobile ( Android ).

Did you test the idea mentioned by @C_T to limit the number of subscriptions?

I once did subscribe to How-tos, but had to unsubscribe quickly because of way too many emails.

We also tested this on our end with multiple devices and we were not able to replicate what you are experiencing.

Unfortunately, it’s possible that this issue is related to the device you are currently using and we are not able to provide additional troubleshooting steps apart from what we already suggested. We will keep the thread open in case other Local Guides face a similar issue.

I am facing this issue about setting the subscription to ON is not saved.

Every time I toggle this setting ON, and returning to this page, it is OFF.

Do I have to do something further to save this setting?

Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks for any hints or tips or pointing to a page where this is already solved.
