Every Year, World Day for Audiovisual Heritage is observed worldwide on 27th October. This commemorative day was chosen by UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) in 2005 to raise of awareness of the significance of and preservation risks recorded sound and audiovisual documents (films, sound and video recordings, radio and television programmes). Lot of Events are held in many countries, organised by national and regional sound and film archives, broadcasters, museums and libraries, and major audiovisual associations. The theme for this year’s World Day for Audiovisual Heritage is “Discover, Remember and Share” Recently Ahmedabad City is declared India’s First World Heritage City by UNESCO. This is something to take proud of. But are we really conscious about conservation of our rich architectural heritage? After this declaration, Its time to build awareness about our heritage. Let’s get together and create content. Preserving cultural heritage can help shape peace, from archaeological remains to audiovisual and digital archives. Who can join? The main objectives of this photo walk are: - Raising public awareness of the need for preservation; - Providing opportunities to celebrate specific local, national or international aspects of the heritage; - highlighting the accessibility of archives; - attracting media attention to heritage issues; - raising the cultural status of audiovisual heritage; - highlighting audiovisual heritage in danger.
