Hi Local Guides !!
My name is Mauro Bosa and I am originally from a fabulous archipelago in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean belonging to Spain known as “The Canary Islands”. These islands are a great attraction for tourists from all over the world since its climate is considered one of the best and healthiest in the world with an average temperature between 21ºC and 24ºC all year round, but without a doubt what really attracts tourists is its great culture, breathtaking landscapes and of course the gastronomy.
The economy of the islands depends almost entirely on tourism, which is why it is vital to take care of it. In the last decades, due to the great Tour Operators, the vast majority of tourists come with all inclusive holiday packages in which they basically do not leave the hotel. This is something I am not happy about since I would like everyone who visits us to somehow take a piece of our islands when they go back home. In addition, this type of tourism does not do any good to all local businesses and because of this, many people are forced to shut down their businesses.
I think Google Maps is an incredibly amazing tool for all those people who are planning their vacations and allows them to discover the most hidden places of each island and the best local cuisine, such as: where to eat the best wrinkled potatoes with canarian mojo (a traditional local sauce), which are the quietest and cleanest beaches, or which local festivals cannot be missed like the worldwide famous Carnivals.
In all my shared publications on google maps I try to be a hundred percent honest and accurate and I like to take pictures of signs and menus with prices to help people plan their vacations. I like to show them that it is possible to enjoy local good quality gastronomy at affordable prices.
