Hi all , Can my friends spot the catch . both the images are captured with same camera , same lens , same light condition , but in first image objects seems to be different size , and on other hand in second image all objects are looking same height . [ this is just for fun , i am not judging anybody’s photography skill & experience ]
Waiting for valuable feed back from @AdamGT , @TravellerG , @TheEagleEye
Mmmn, @user_not_found
Same lenses? As the pretty obvious difference is on the distance of the shot, you have two options:
- You are using a zoom, so I would not say “same lenses”
- You cropped the second photo, showing us only a detail of the second picture
On a side note, I would like to suggest you to avoid the use of overtagging. If a post is interesting, people will reach you on any case
@user_not_found
Apparent size is not measured as an ordinary size, in meters. It is actually an angle, so it is measured in degrees or radians. It is called perspective.
Hello @user_not_found
Somehow I think that both the asnwers of @ErmesT and @TheEagleEye are on the money but definitely agree with @ErmesT that distance of the shot is different and plays a major part. In the second photo you have zoomed in, scaled to reduced its size so that the objects appear to be the same size in the first photo, and finally cropped it.
Dear @ErmesT , thanks for attending the post of our @user_not_found
& inspiring him; with this post, he has completed 12 posts in LG Connect.
Now, I would humbly request you to kindly consider my views (which I have expressed to you, earlier too), on your comment "On a side note, I would like to suggest you to avoid the use of over-tagging. If a post is interesting, people will reach you on any case.
Sorry, I humbly request you to review your comment with a positive frame ofmind, to promote Contributing LGs, please:
-
He has not Over-Tagged at all! Officially, we are allowed to Tag 10 “Like-Minded LGs”, in this forum. He has only tagged 3 LGs & all three have responded, accepted his tagging & commented.
-
Again, humbly request you to kindly ‘feel the pain’ of the LG who puts in his time & energy to publish a post, expecting few motivating replies and all of a sudden, he gets a blame - to me, this is very sad situation.
I had been hurt a few times in the past & even stopped publishing posts in Connect. Then, with the motivation from fellow LGs & couple of moderators, I restarted attending Connect, again. I sincerely thank them, again.
-
As you are aware, Connect is very poor in exposure of the posts - it is fact! (Posts published by Moderators will get sure attention, because of your designation & LGs will give Kudos + write comment, many a time - “Thanks for sharing” even without reading the content!).
-
For general LGs, unless you tag like minded LGs, LGs’ post will go unnoticed, most of the time; it is again a fact - Example - I would not have seen this post, unless the
@user_not_found
tagged me. I request him, to tag me, in all his future posts, with thanks in advance - I shall try my humble way to promote these LGs. -
“If a post is interesting, people will reach you on any case” - again sorry to say, “No Way!” nobody, except few Moderators, as the part of your assignment (responsibility), may try to reach out to all the messages! Thanks for your efforts.
General LGs, will not be able to see all the posts, posted in Connect, as there are numerous posts, happening every day.
-
So I humbly request you to promote LGs to contribution more in the platform, by asking them to tag 10 LGs; but you may kindly instruct them clearly to tag only like-minded LGs.
-
While I request
@user_not_found
to have look at this post to know “how to find out like-minded LGs & tag them”, (where I have explained NOT to tag, if a LG does not respond after the 2nd Tag), I also request you (if your time permits), to kindly guide me, if I can improve this post further, as you always used to do. -
As you know, I am grooming few LGs ( for Google Map, LG Connect & in photography) & I have been spending more time to promote the grooming LGs & many other New comers (than attending my own posts), by tagging my known LGs & requesting them to inspire the new comers - this fact is known to many Google Moderators & they have been mentioning it & expressing their regards to me - once again thank them for their kind gesture.
-
Finally, since you are one of the most senior & well known (well read), I pray to you to kindly guide us how to get more reach for our LGs’ posts, which in turn will motivate them to contribute more.
Thanks for your kind attention & favorable supports.
Hi dear @user_not_found
,
-
All the respected LGs, @ErmesT , Level 10 LGs, @TheEagleEye & @AdamGT have given excellent explanations!
-
We welcome fun posts also in between! No problem!!
-
As rightly mentioned by our @TheEagleEye , we Pros, use “Perspective” to gain many effects & this photos explain one aspect of it.
-
@AdamGT point of Zoom is clear from the fact the ‘wall markings’ have become larger = Zoomed! Also, the near object in the second photo is out of focus, again explaining zooming!
-
For the objects, ‘IN Line’, the front one will always, feel larger & the rear will look smaller,
-
Camera at a place, which is perpendicular to all the 3 objects, gives equal size to all the 3 objects. (actual size of all objects).
A similar case: In selfies, the near Person looks bigger & the person at the last comes, smallest (In-Line photo); of course, our brain works excellently to moderate this effect, in the case of people.
Thanks, dear all.!
Dear Level 10 LGs @TheEagleEye & @AdamGT ,
I am very grateful to you both for your kind gesture to attend the post of junior LGs, like our @user_not_found
! (I have noticed this in different posts)
It shows your positive approach to promote our new LGs. Let us join our hands to boost the morale of all the LGs, whenever possible.
Thank you so much for your supports,
With regards
Hi dear @user_not_found
,
I am sure that many LGs from our grooming group will be interested to see this post, hence I am tagging @Mukesh71 @VickyKrish @IshantHP_ig @hidaytrahman @DhawalShah -also, I request you to read the replies by other 3 LGs, including mine
Thanks for your supports to new comers / junior LGs.
With regards
We have already exchanged our opinion about tag, @TravellerG , and I hope you don’t believe I am writing about tag to be un-helpful.
I would like to close this part of this conversation here, but as you wanted to put your note, I have to respond, highlighting to your attention the fact that:
- The post has been edited after my reply, so please don’t judge if you don’t have the global view on how the original reply was
- I have reached the post without being tagged, and i have responded, because the post is interesting. I will always drop a note about overtagging, when needed
Hope now we can go back to the topic, that is interesting, about photographic techniques.
On this matter, I hope to have a feedback by @user_not_found
@TravellerG thanks for tagging me in the post and it’s so lit to go through the comments section of this post . And happy to go through all the comments @ErmesT @AdamGT @TheEagleEye .
Once again thanks to @user_not_found
for this post and initiating this great post.
Thanks everyone for your appreciation , yes i tagged 10 L.G before as i thought tagging 10 L.G’s is Ok . But Lets move Ahead from this .
Below is the image i like to share . in the below image please see the size of lamp post . the lamps in the front are looking of different size but on the other hand lamps in the back ground are looking same size . both the examples in one image .
my object was just to tell other hobby photographers if you have this trick in your mind before taking photo very good results can be achieved . if i had zoom my camera to focus on object i would have lost the beauty of the lamp post’s .
Your last photo is simply perfect @Anonymous
The use of the “natural view”, that for me means “what our eyes see” is perfectly explaining the meaning of “prospective”, and how our brain is used to interpret what we see, and to associate the apparent different size to “distance”
The use of the “false prospective” have been always used on theater, starting from the Greek Theater od more than 20 centuries ago.
On the next photo you can see the use of the “false prospective” on a “modern” (XVI century) theater
On the next photo you can see the opposite: How you can trick the distance, by the use of a zoom. What appears to be a lake in the mountains is in fact the Venetian lagoon, and the distance between the shot position and the mountains is more than 100 Km
Both the Photos are self explanatory & very good, dear @ErmesT ,
Thanks for the explantion & support to @user_not_found
!
With regards
Along with the explanation given by our @ErmesT , I would like to add two more photos, dear @user_not_found
:
Photo-1 (Photo by LG @IshantHP_ig ). This explains our brains capability to visualise the “Depth” of the frame! Even if the photo is in 2D (Two Diamentional), our brain understands the depth of the object. ("Perspective Photogrphy")
Photo-2 (Photo from my collection). This photography, we call as “Forced Perspective” which is an optical Illusion. Actually, an object (in the photo the sun) which is farther away, looks closer in this photography, as if the sun is held in the hands of the man.
Thanks
Thanks for your response, dear @VickyKrish …
@user_not_found
- It’s all about distance to capture the subject.
Thank you @TravellerG for mentioning me.
Hi @hidaytrahman ,
I wanted to let you know that I’ve just removed the unwanted Spoiler from your post. If you are interested how to remove them, please check this article.
Welcome dear @hidaytrahman
@KatyaL Thanks a lot. this is really helpful
