Anybody got an idea how to load photos from Google Photos directly into Forum posts? Is it possible at all I wonder. I have to always download and then insert - I may be doing the wrong thing somewhere. Thanks for your response.

Hi @Sarath-Ab uploadind directly from Google photos to Connect can not be possible unless you want to share a certain photo or photos as a link, remember that Google photos share the same drive as Gmail or Google drive. Together they all form the 15GB free storage.

Hi @Sarath-Ab

please read this post about posting photos on Connect: Uploading a photo on Connect? Read these guidelines first

Just to summarize:

  • You can upload photos, with a maximum size of 3 MB, up to the limit of 1000 photos
  • You can embed photos (also from Google Photo) following this procedure
  • On Android, to upload photos, you can choose Google Photo as a source for your photo. The photo will be automatically downloaded on your phone then uploaded on Connect (again with a maximum size of 3 MB. Hope is can help you

I just copy and paste. No need to download and insert.

Thanks @ErmesT @Raphael-Mahumane . And more thanks to @Ant_Bad_Yogi , copying and pasting from Google Photos works like a dream, only thing is you have to do it one by one !!

Dear @ErmesT

Thank you for your suggestion. I read the details about posting a picture on the Connect platform. I think you may need to correct the photo size advice from 3GB to 3MB instead. That would be a more meaningful metric.

I’m so sorry to tell you that if u copy and paste, u need to set the photos to public, so everyone will see the photos. I just know about this too. So i think we better resize then upload, so there will be no problem.

Really sorry about this, hope you understand.

@Ant_Bad_Yogi Thanks for the warning, but I think I copied and pasted, without setting them to ā€˜public’ or does it automatically change to a publicly accessible mode… after copying and pasting? In that case not quite safe… let’s check that out…

  1. I copied and pasted, my friends don’t see it.

  2. I set the photo to public, i didn’t change anything on my post, my friends don’t see it.

  3. I’ll try to delete it and upload it. I’ll let you know the result soon.

Well, the point is that, if the photos (on Google Photo) aren’t shared to public, you will be the only one able to see them @Sarath-Ab .

This can cause a lot of inconvenience, as the only way that you have to see if your photo are visible to others, you have to check your post on anonymous mode.

This is what I see here

I am sorry about that. Please remember that, once you modify the visibility, you should add the photo again. Always check on anonymous an embedded photo, when you use this procedure

Please note that I have removed the ā€œsolutionā€ for this post

@ErmesT @Ant_Bad_Yogi Thank you both, I think I am beginning to understand this… So, if the photo is not set to Public, others cannot see… beats the purpose isn’t it?

Yes, you era right @Sarath-Ab , because the photos are on your private profile on Google photos.

My tip is: when you write a post

  1. make an album whit the photos that you want to share on the post. If you are not sure about the photos to add, put more photos in there
  2. share the album
  3. add the photos on the post. When you paste a photo copied from Google Photo, in fact you are not pasting (uploading) the photo, but simply embedding it. When you embed a photo in fact you generate a command like this; ā€œimg src="your image URLā€ (just switch to HTML to verify)
  4. Never modify or add other photos to the album. Link generated from Google photos are sometime a bit unstable

Good luck

I downloaded photos from Google photos. Resize them. Delete the old private photos and uploaded the resized ones. Now my friends can see them.
