Hi @DebbyDekeersgieter

It is not possible to follow anyone on Google Maps.

Closest to it is if you see someones review or rating you can click on his name and it will show his profile with all his photos and reviews. So you can somehow check his profile in this way but to get notifications on his new posts (that is what you probably mean as follow) is not possible.

I moved your post to How-tos and changed the title.

@VitB @DebbyDekeersgieter What about the “Add Friend” at bottom of each users profile page? What is that for?

Hi @TheEagleEye

That is only for Connect, not for Google Maps.

Anyway, I was not using this feature at all till now. Now I added one person to see what is it doing and did not notice anything…

This is what Local Guides Connect Help is saying about it (it is in my settings part):

Your Friends List is a way to create your own community within a community.

Depending on your privacy settings, the people on your Friends List can see your biography, other personal information, or online status. If you send private messages, you can choose friends from a list instead of typing their user names.

Note: Your Friends List is available only if your community supports private messages.

To add people to your Friends List:

  1. Sign in to the community.
  2. Click the user name of a friend to see the friend’s About user name page.
  3. Click Add user name to Friends.

Note: You can remove a person from your Friend’s List by clicking “Remove from Friends”. Additionally, you can click “Ignore” to prevent specific users from contacting you.

I just checked and I can see the online status of every user even if he is not in my friends list but it might be because I am a moderator.

Thanks for reply @VitB . I haven’t friended anyone and I think it should be removed so as not to make this platform just another social media.

Great
