Can someone explain the process of how a edit is reviewed and approved by Google?

Hi All, I would love to know and understand the process of how Google handles the edit reviewing process. Just trying to understand so that we can think of ideas how the process can be improved and speeded.

Hello @joyjophin

Referring to many previous discussions on the subject, the following would be the likely process of approval.

  1. By an automated evaluation through Artificial Intelligence.

  2. If not, then the edit becomes available to other local guides, under the heading " Verify the facts". However, the final verdict may remain with the AI only.

What do you mean? like editing information about a place? are you the owner of that place?

I can answer this in general terms @joyjophin there are several different processes at play, some technology, some Local Guides and some Googlers all in combination.

There can be lots of things going on behind the scenes that influence the success of an edit. The geographic location, the state of the place being edited and other factors can be at play.

Hey @joyjophin ,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

Having in mind that edits on Google Maps are a very complex process, it can’t be entirely defined. The Google algorithms analyse different factors, such as the information submitted, the location of the input and other factors to make sure everything added to the map is accurate and follows our guidelines.

However, there are regions around the world where there simply is not enough information for some edits to come through successfully or immediately. This is why the procedure can’t be speed-up as it involves a lot of processing.

You can find more information on edit status here. As there are some temporary changes that Google products are suffering, it will be useful to check this thread as well.

@Caro930

When you want to speak to anyone on connect, don’t forget to mention the person with @+ username. Then she/he will get notified and you are more likely to get a reply.

And we will know what your question is about.

Cheers

Lol… @MortenCopenhagen are you serious? I mean you’ve seen me previously mentioning you and others in another thread so why to point out what I’m already doing? Congrats on your level 10 and the banner you created as a signature but… hey! chill up a little bit. I’m not really offering a solution to this question and since the replies to it aren’t that many yet, I think @joyjophin may get notified by any reply given to this post so I didn’t see the necessity to mention him.

Accept my apologies.

I just wanted to help if I could.

It was unclear if you were questioning what @joyjophin or @Bobiisha wrote.

Cheers
