Can i add same photo, same review on similar places?

Here, I am stuck at the point where there are two different locations of the same place.

Can I add the same photo and review to these multiple places?

Will my contribution be counted once or twice?

For reference, I’ve attached screenshots.

Hi @RaviRaaz

Thanks for reaching.

According to Google’s Terms & Conditions

Your content should reflect your genuine experience at the location and should not be posted just to manipulate a place’s ratings. Don’t post fake content, don’t post the same content multiple times, and don’t post content for the same place from multiple accounts.

So, posting same review or pictures at multiple places can be considered as a spam activity and is also violation of Terms&Conditions.

Each contribution is counted once.

You can always suggest an edit to merge or close the duplicate place on the Google Maps.

Hello @RaviRaaz

When one finds duplication of a POI, an obvious action by an LG should be suggesting merging of those.

Beyond that, the duplication of photos at multiple locations is strictly against the program rules. The same applies to copy-pasting of reviews.

Still, the specific case pointed out by you is further interesting.

Though both the descriptions point to the same object, the one at the western edge is only accessible to the tourists.

Suggesting renaming of that would remove the confusion.

Then that leaves the original marker placed in the middle. That spot can’t be visited by anybody for security reasons. Then, posting photos and reviews for that becomes out of the question.

Further, in my opinion, the palace & the fort are two distinct entities. The first is dwelling within the boundary of the second. In that case, if you have visited both the places, then you should be adding photos & the unique experience at these two places.

Thank you @VinayKrishna

my concern was just about tackling two different locations of the same place on the map.

however, your solution is appreciated.

lots of joy!!

Thank you @C_T for your valuable time.

I will try to review each place uniquely now onwards.

Lots of Joy!! :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello to all of you. I strongly agree with @C_T and @VinayKrishna .

But as I was going through the whole thread, I was having a very strange question in my mind.

As few of my friends toured to "Pangong lake aka Pangong Tso (Tso is called lake in Ladakhi/Tibbet Language) .

This is what I found.

“” Pangong Tso or Pangong Lake is an endorheic lake in the Himalayas situated at a height of about 4,350 m. It is 134 km long and extends from India to the Tibetan Autonomous Region, China. Approximately 60% of the length of the lake lies within the Tibetan Autonomous Region. The lake is 5 km wide at its broadest point. “”

So this Lake share its location with two countries. Even Google show it as " Lake in Asia"

So I want to ask @C_T and Krishna, If you are approaching that lake and GPS is picking the location of Lake at the other End (Tibet side), then It should not taken as duplicate POI .

Can you move the map marker to centre of the lake which is itself is as big as a district. ??

Waiting for Answer.

Hello @Sandeepnirvan

If you read my answer once again, I am suggesting renaming of the POI at the western edge. That should remove the confusion. Instead of naming that as Pangong Lake, let that be called as Pangong Lake Tourist Spot.

Note, the point designating Pangong Tso on the Google Maps still remains within Indian territory even if we consider the actual LOC (which is much inside than the border shown on the Map).

Still, nobody can reach that point as authorities do not permit boating. Thus, there is no question of the GPS tracker or timeline selecting that point.
