Hi Google Local Guides , I hope you’re doing well !
Everyone of us has his/her own personal story as a google local guide , we’ve been contributing within this community for years.
But here’s a question, what’s the impact of being a google local guide on your life and personality ?
For me, it made a positive impact on my life and personality briefly as per the following:-
1- Improving my hobby of exploring new places regularly.
2- Improving my skills of photography (Bought 2 DSLR Cameras & GoPro Camera) in addition to utilizing my mobile phone for taking better photos.
3- Being more organized , when it comes to sorting my photos over years within dedicated folders based on the year and the place where the photos were taken.
4- Strengthen the sense of directions , it helped me more to draw maps inside my mind for different places especially my sense of imagination is high !
5- Non-intentionally, it made me recognized by the media for two times (Interview with Al-Arabiya TV in 2025) & (Interview with CairoScene in 2026).
I’d be glad to know your answers, I’m pretty sure there’d be many interesting answers so let’s share experience and spread knowledge together.
Hi @M_Yones , Thank you for sharing how your experiences have positively impacted your personality. I believe many local guides feel a similar influence. It has changed my life in several ways: I’ve become more observant regarding wheelchair access, parking facilities, opening hours, road access and menus. I’ve also made helpful edits to the content, connected with new friends, and improved my photography skills.

أؤمن أنه عندما تقضي وقتك في مساعدة الآخرين على اكتشاف العالم، فإنك تكتشف أيضًا نسخة جديدة من نفسك.
Silaturahmi dengan teman-teman yang terputus selama bertahun-tahun akhirnya tersambung karena saya datang untuk mengulas usahanya dan banyak bercerita tentang apa itu Google Maps.
Berani berbicara baik dan buruknya sebuah ulasan.
Belajar banyak trik mengambil gambar dan menceritakannya.
Banyak tahu tempat . Karena saya suk pindah-pindah tempat jajan untuk dapat saya ulas xixixi
Banyak kenal pelaku usaha yang baru dan berkesempatan untuk bersosialisasi tentang Google Maps
Dapat di liput oleh media masa sebagai lokal guide .
Masih banyak lagi yang tidak dapat saya ceritakan smeuanya saking banyaknya
