Introduction :

Happy third birthday, Local Guides Connect!

Today we celebrate the 3rd anniversary of LocalGuidesConnect (LGC) that we all love to bits. It’s incredible to see how LGC started, evolved and became an important part of our lives. On one hand, we are proud #LocalGuides who love to help millions around the globe with our contributions on Google Maps. On the other hand, we love helping our #LocalGuides family members here on LGC.

Today, I would like to present a unique idea to show our love for:

  • LocalGuidesConnect Platform
  • LGC Family and its extended members
  • Googlers and every member of their team who keeps this platform up and running.

Idea :

So, what are we going to do? We’ll do what we do best. You got it, by we will show our support and love by organizing worldwide meetups to have a month long #LocalGuides style anniversary celebration. Yep, [ Meetups to be held from 15th July 2019 to 15th August 2019 every year].

Where do you live , where you are, Host or Join a Meetup.
It can be
Map editing walk
Geo walk
Photo walk
Food Crawl
Accessibility walk
Local guides meetup
Environmental meetup (clean the world or plantation)
Knowledge Sharing Meetup
Or any other meetup

Impact :

Let’s keep it simple. Shall we?

  1. Encourage newcomers on LGC to host their first meetup or at least join one
  2. Show our support and love for LGC during the meetup
  3. Make only quality contributions to Google Maps and spread the never ending love

Register your meetup and give us a shout and we’ll update this post for others to see and follow.

Once, the Anniversary celebrations meetups are over and you have made your great Re-cap post, we will sum everything up with our LGC family.

Need Help to Host a Meetup?

You can host a meetup by these simple steps.

+Just click here for host a meetups site.

+As Meetup names are only limited to 30 characters, let’s keep them organized and synchronized by:

[CityName] LGC Anniv Meetup
where [CityName] → replaced with your Meetup City
LGC ->abbreviation for LocalGuidesConnect (Unofficial)
Anniv → abbreviation for Anniversary

For Example:

GeorgeTown LGC Anniv Meetup

Gujranwala LGC Anniv Walk

Buenos Aires LGC Anniv Meetup

  • Pick a Suitable Picture and upload it which is related to your walk/meetup

  • Describe your purpose of meetup or walk and short detail what the participants should bring with them , like for photo walk participants should have cameras , power banks , water bottles etc.

+Select date between 15th july to 15th August 2019.

  • Select starting place of your meetup

+Host A Meet Up submission

  • Than you will get confirmation email and after some days approval of meetup if it approves.

Very great work I also want to call for a Meetup at muMuzaffarab as Karachi or faisalabad are far away from us. Many LGs are here in Muzaffarabad and mansehra districts please guide us for it

Please check this great post [ How to organize a successful Meetup ] from @AriMar , which will take you through different ideas and steps to Host a meetup.

Once your meetup is approved, you can share the link on your social media channels or using any tools with your fellow community members so that they can join. One advice though, plan a meetup ahead, give yourself ample time to prepare and others to join as well.

I hope you find it easy to apply for a Meetup, otherwise always happy to help :slight_smile:

Kashif Bhai thanks a lot for your efforts and guidelines for new comers. Right now I’m at Quetta and not sure about my arrival at Karachi. However, I will try my best to join you on 14th. Lets see :slight_smile:
