Cali, Colombia - what to visit

Hey Local guides!

Who is traveling in Colombia or who is coming soon to this amazing country? Raise your hand!

Colombia is very diverse in its culture and places it offers to the tourists.

Well, I just went to Cali a few days ago and I found great places to visit during your 1-2-day trip.

If you travel by bus, you will be dropped off at the Terminal which is in the North area of the city:

I recommend you to get a taxi from the Terminal straight to El Gato del Rio. It’s a monument to the cats and the story tells that the big cat you will find here is accompanied by his girlfriends. So it’s like a corridor with different statues with cats and each of them has the story next to it. Great place to start off the walking tour.

Then, you can keep walking to other area of the city, quite close to this place and it’s the San Antonio neighborhood. Very known for backpackers and good restaurants. Some houses are well decorated with graffitis and colors!

On the top of a hill, there is a church with nice architecture and the view from that place is fantastic! You can see part of the city from up there :

On the way down, you can choose one of the restaurants nearby to get lunch and a great coffee in any of the cozy cafes around.

“Champus” is a very typical dessert if you want to try something original from the region :slightly_smiling_face:

Also, visit Parque de las Lomas, not quite big, but you are close to it by the time you discover San Antonio.

And then, you can have a stroll around downtown where all the banks, offices and financial area is located.

The Parque Simon Bolivar is very close and it borders the river.

Hope you get a glimpse of this city and have it in your list whenever you come to visit Colombia!

Cool, that’s an interesting fact @MapuGuti . Cali is generating some quality dancers. :]

I didn’t watch the Super Bowl, but the performance of JLo I did watch online and I was blown away.
