[BUG] Panorama photo - I see picture from stranger, not my photo.

Hello Googlers and my dear Local Guides fellows,

I would like to report this weird  bug on desktop version of Google map. It is occurs every time, so it should be easy to reproduce.

What I did:

I took panorama photo via native Camera app on my Pixel 3XL :iphone: and then I upload it to Google maps to this POI.

When I opened my contribute profile on desktop and click on photos tab, I can see my panorama photo there. So far, so good :slightly_smiling_face: .

But when I****open that photo, stranger’s picture pop up instead of mine.

Why this is happening? Why this is not working like on mobile?

Another weird thing, is that I cant even see my pictures (panorama and regular one) in POI photos  . However, this may be due to COVID-19 and some delays.

Hi @Rohlik ,

Thank for having checked! : ]

In relation to your inquiry, would the similar situation occur with other POI that you have uploaded photos to (preferably 360° photos)?

For the moment, to keep the subject connected better with the category, for the current post it would be changed to How-tos.

Hey @sonnyNg ,

thanks for your time and for moving my post to better category.

My answer to your question is that this is happening to all of my panorama photos which I uploaded to Google map. :pensive:

Here is another example:

Hi @Rohlik

Are you referring to this photo?

I can’t check yours, because your profile is locked, but you can share the link directly from the preview (on desktop only) so to check what others can see.

@KishorMali , your link is related to a totally different situation, please check the original post again.

Hi @ErmesT ,

yep, that foto is from totally stranger person, not mine.

My panorama photo is this one - https://goo.gl/maps/ZH9iXfh7D7mkBMkh7 . But when you open it on desktop you will see photo from the stranger.

When you open it on mobile you will see correct one - mine.

Hi @Rohlik

I’m checking from mobile, and it gives me a weird message.

The 360 pop for a fraction of second then disappear, and I receive the message: Street View isn’t available here.

I have a meet-up in a few minutes, but I will check again later about the mix-up of address. Btw I had a similar issue times ago with a flat photo, that appeared on the wrong POI.

The issue was self fixed after a couple of days, probably a misalignment of databases.

I am tagging @ConnorP (street View Moderator) to see if they are experiencing the same issue with other users

@Rohlik

Clicking on your direct link to your image brings up a poorly stitched 360 image by David B.

Clicking on the link on my Android phone gives the same result as described by Ermest. Short flash then black screen.

Hey

@MortenCopenhagen and @ErmesT - I also seen black screen on my mobile, but when you use slide gesture you will able to see my image.

@Rohlik

Nope. It is different here. Maps opens. From the bottom of the screen, a black image slides up - just to slide down immediately. So I see the map again. Hence there is no chance (time) to start swiping.

Cheers

Same as @MortenCopenhagen

This is what I see, @Rohlik

That is interesting.

Maybe this indicate, that there are 2 different bugs here.

I looking forward to see @ConnorP finding.

I see now that nobody responded @Rohlik , Sorry about that, let me tag @mihal20

to see if he can check this weird issue.

Unfortunately with the actual situation, also Google is reducing the activities

Hello @Rohlik ,

I was checking the POI on the SV App but unfortunately can’t see any contributions from your profile.

Can you please copy/paste for me the whole link from Maps and not the short one?

When did you publish these photos?

Can you please share with us other links of photos with the same issue?

Did you publish them all with the SV App?

Can you please try removing the block about your contributions in Maps and check if something changes?

Thank you @ErmesT for tagging me! :slightly_smiling_face:

Best,

Mihal

Hey @mihal20  ,

I cannot obtain full URL for photo, because everytime when I click on my photo in Contrib page, photo from stranger is show with own URL.

I change my profile to public as you want. But, and this is wierd, I cannot see my panorama pictures there :hushed: (when accessing my profile in anonymous tab).

I uploaded photos to that POI on 17.4.2020.

I using standard “Share” option for publishing my panorama photos to the Google map. SV app using just for full 360 pictures.

Sadly, I have just that two panorama pictures. :pensive:

Because I really want see this fixed I decided to upload video where you can see the problem. I hope this will help.

Can @mihal20 look at it  ?

Hi @Rohlik ,

Thank you for sharing with me the video! :slightly_smiling_face:

Actually when visiting your Maps profile, I can’t see the 360 photo you are talking about.

I asked support to our tech team, and most probably that 360 photo is not present anymore (most probably it was deleted from some automatic moderation in Maps if you didn’t deleted yourself) and that’s why when you click on it it jump to another user’s photo.

Here the screen of what I see:

Maybe you still see the photo because of your browser’s cache and cookies. Can you please try to navigate your Maps profile from another device of in incognito mode?

If you have it still in your SV App, you can try to republish it.

Let me know how it’s going :slightly_smiling_face:

Best regards,

Mihal

@mihal20 thx for your investigation. I tried open Google maps on incognito but behavior is the same - problem persist.

I find out that on mobile version of Google maps everything works fine - my panorama photos are properly loaded. So problem is only on desktop.

I took these pictures by my Google Pixel 3XL with native Camera app, so I would expect that all metadata are okay.
