BUG in Google Maps

  1. Not really sure where to post this but I found a problem with Google maps on my Samsung Galaxy S10+. Lately, when I am done using maps and I close it, the app stays loaded and will not shutdown unless I go into app settings and force shutdown. And, yes, I have confirmed each time that there wasn’t a route started. Application stays loaded as if a route was in progress but if you click on the notification for it, there is no routes planned.

Hi @ewing4536

In fact, many apps continue to keep running in the background.
It’s not clear in your post the exact nature of the problem.
Does the Maps window continue occupying the full screen or in a small window, i.e. in a Picture In Picture mode?

Disabling the PIP mode would be the solution for the latter.

Hi @ewing4536 ,

Thanks for reaching out!

Regarding the inquiry, please be noted that I have relocated it to How-tos, as it is more appropriate regarding the subject, should it be any issue-specific that can be checked at. : ]

It is much appreciated what @C_T kindly mentioned, as in case there would be any error on Google Maps, do feel free to let us know via feedback.

Okay, I figured it out. Definitely not a bug, but definitely something that should be fixed. I figured out that the app can be closed out by a long press on the notification , then scroll down and tap exit navigation. I Know that shutting off notifications to the app would have worked but that wasn’t what I was trying to accomplish, since I do want notifications on.

Hi @ewing4536 ,

Thanks for the follow up!

Just to be correct, after arriving at the destination and proceeding to exit the navigation & leave the Google Maps application, the green live above the screen (which would be as a shortcut to the navigation mode) would still stay, correct?

(I still am not following of your latest reply, do feel free to share further explanation on the matter)
