Hey @AlessiaP ,
Welcome to Connect!
Thanks for sharing these amazing photos with us! Please tell us more about your experience in Budapest. Why are the shoes on the riverbank, do you know the custom behind that?
I think @Petra_M might also be able to shed some light on that. ![]()

Hi @AlexaAC ,
Thanks for the tag.
I love the Budapest Castle Hill Funicular which takes the people up to the Buda Castle. I’m impressed about that part of the city, is beautiful with hundreds of monuments and super calm.
The shoes on the Danube bank is a holocaust memorial.
@AlessiaP your photos are amazing. What did you like the most in Budapest? Did you tried the local food?
Great photos @AlessiaP

Ciao @AlexaAC grazie mille

Hi @AlexaAC ,
I’m a Local Guide from Budapest Hungary, I’m answering because it seems you didn’t receive the answer since a while.
Those shoes are there as a rememberance sculpture reminding to those persons who shot to death by the riverbank during the Holocaust in the World War II.

Hi @MrP3t3r ,
Thank you so much! It was mentioned to me before, but I really appreciate your detailed explanation.
If you had to suggest a must see spot in Prague to visit, what would it be?
