#Brother Sister Bond Raksha Bandhan.

Hello Friends.

Raksha Bandhan is a festival in which sisters tie Rakhi on the wrist of her brother, olden days, Roli Thread Mauli Kalawa Sacred Thread was use with few Moti / beeds .

But as time change,we started getting fashionable Rakhi, we get variety of Rakhi in market for kids there favourite cartoon character,some type different symbol, some buy silver or gold band ,what ever there pocket allows how much u can spend it’s price start of simple 20 Rs ,50,100,200,…Gold & silver goes from thousands to lakh.

Sister take a plate keep Rakhi, few rice grain, Kumkum powder for tilak ( put bindi on forehead) small diya ( cotton ball dip in pure ghee it burn).

She prayers to God to bless her brother with all happiness & prosperity. She then tie Rakhi on right hand wrist & also pray for his success in life.
In return brother give her sister blessing , gift or money & promise he will always protect her sister when ever she need his help.
This bonding of brother & sister is called Raksha( Protection) bandana…

If you brother is married sister tie to his wife also. This culture is only in few community in different states.
This is a festival of love and trust and is celebrated on the full moon day of the month of Sravana, which falls in July or August.

Nariyal purnima is also celebrate on this day , Mumbai & all over Maharashtra.

On this day fishermen specially from Kolis & other fishing community from coastal region early morning they carry a plate of coconut & kumkum, few grains of rice, sweet they offer to God of Ocean & Sea… ( Lord Varuna) , seek permission to go do fishing…
During rainy season fisherman not do fishing , on this day they do puja & take permission,blessing from God Varuna to protect them from dangers that occurs in Ocean like high tides,& other calamity after puja they distributed prasad of coconut & sweet then sail in decorated there boat in sea. When u sea them the scene looks beautiful all decorated boats in sea.
They sing & dance also because they go do fishing. This way they thank the mother nature for keeping them safe the whole year ahead.

Due to pandemic I had courier Rakhi to my brothers they are staying 25 km away… So send them with my blessing my sister is staying near by so she tied to my both brother’s.
