The Place, is a commercial complex in the heart of Toronto, was named one of the city’s top 10 buildings in 2007 and won the National Building of the Year Award. The place is composed of the 51-story TD Canada trust-building, the 47-story Wellington building and a number of historic buildings. Renowned architect Santiago Calatrava designed this highly characteristic architectural marvel, the highest expression of modern urban aesthetics, commerce, and culture. Framed in steel and completely enclosed in glass, the commercial arcade is designed like a country road shaded by maple trees.
