Ok… why when I am in Scotland do I have local stories showing Bangladesh… 
has google lost its way?

If you’re looking for local content in Scotland, I would recommend following Scotland and other areas you may be interested in - it is a fairly new feature to our community and you can read about that feature here; it’s great for keeping up with Guides near you or content in areas/places you love. Aside from that, you may be able to find content from other those native to Scotland or visiting Scotland by using the search function at the top of the page.

In your settings you can select your town:
Edit your profile - Personal Information - Personal - Location.
I think that setting might help Connect know you and your location. But I’m unsure if this setting has effect on what local stories you get to see.
I use the new Favorite Location as referenced by @SP31 to follow local stories.
