#BreakTheBias campaign on International Women's Day 2022

8 March, International Women’s Day is celebrated in many countries around the world to commemorate the cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements of women. IWD 2022 campaign theme: #BreakTheBias. We are Local Guides @SumaiyaZafrin @RadiaRayanC @JashiaNoshin and our youth-led non-profit organisation has started a campaign to #BreakTheBias.

As an advocate for #womenempowerment based on my experience I have seen the greatest roadblock for women and girls in accessing education and skills development – especially when it comes to technical skills is that the long-held notion that men are mathematically superior and better suited to STEM fields. Girls and women have lower access to ICT tools and connectivity than boys and men. Women and girls in some geographical contexts have limited mobility. Women and girls face increasing online harassment, which limits their online activities and thus their opportunities to use the digital space for professional skills development.

The global community must support women to realize their full potential as leaders in all professional spheres. We appreciate the Local Guides program for its contribution to making it accessible for girls and encouraging women’s participation in Google Maps.

Imagine a gender-equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women’s equality. Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias.

Share with us how you Break The Bias.

Individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions - all day, every day.

We can break the bias in our communities.

We can break the bias in our workplaces.

We can break the bias in our schools, colleges and universities.

Together, we can all #BreakTheBias- on International Women’s Day (IWD) and beyond.
