Breakfast: My Favorite Meal

As with many other Local Guides, my favorite part of Connect is the Food & Drink section. Just like in real life, on Connect I love consuming images, stories, and descriptions of the food that makes us tick. We have a lot of choices to the meal times we have for a day. I love following the Hobbit food schedule:

  • Breakfast
  • Second Breakfast
  • Elevenses
  • Luncheon
  • Afternoon Tea
  • Dinner
  • Supper

But of all these, Breakfast reigns supreme. In honor of this best meal time, I would love to highlight some of my favorites over the last few years. Keep in mind, the best part of Breakfast is that it can be consumed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. My wife and I love it so much we get sitters to take our kids for dates in the morning so we can have Breakfast Dates.

Favorite Breakfast/Brunch Spot

One of our favorite spots for breakfast is a restaurant called First Watch. They have amazing breakfast tacos, candied bacon, fresh-squeezed juices, sandwiches, omelets, frittatas, and potatoes. They have seasonal offerings like flavored pancakes and French toast as well. No matter what time of year you visit…come hungry.

Breakfast Food Trucks

I am a sucker for a food truck. But when you combine breakfast and restaurants on wheels, then count me in on attending. I have frequented many different food trucks that serve breakfast foods over the years. Egg-themed trucks with omelets, scrambles, and burritos. Waffle or pancake-themed trucks that use gimmicks like waffle cones or waffles on sticks and using pancakes like sliced bread to create ornate sandwiches.

My latest favorite is a truck that visited Winston-Salem over the summer called Hot Chix. Fried chicken pancake tacos with your choice of sauce, stacks of hotcakes, tater tots, mac and cheese, OH MY! This was one of the best food trucks I’ve been to in a while and such a crowd-pleaser for the kids.

Pastry For The Win

As much as I love the savory, I also am a sucker for sweets for Breakfast. The beauty of it is, Wildflour Pastry in Charleston, SC has both. Prepare to line up on the street before opening time if you want to enjoy one of these heavenly sticky buns, cinnamon rolls, or a homemade tomato pie…all on homemade, delectable pasty dough.

Who Can Forget The Best Breakfast Beverage? Coffee!

No breakfast is complete without an excellent cup of coffee. Although 90% of the time I enjoy my caffeine in the form of black coffee (especially from the Yirgacheffe region of Ethiopia), I do also love a good plain latte, americano, cortado, and flat white espresso drink. My favorite coffee roasters at the moment are Counter Culture and Perc Coffee.

The pictures are fantastic. It sounds to me like you all enjoyed your breakfast.

My breakfast today was a healthier variant compared to what I normally eat.

Love Breakfast!!! I’m in search of the perfect Eggs Benedict. Always seem to find the better examples at smaller independent restaurants, like this Veggie Benny with Spinach, Mushrooms and Tomato Salsa. Love the added fresh fruit too. Local place called The Hot Grill

This is from a place that we first visited the original restaurant within a couple weeks of their opening. They are now a chain in Western Canada, Arizona and California. Farm to table is their thing. This is the Veggie Benny with Spinach, Haas Avocado and tomato Jam. OEB Breakfast Company is the name and well worth looking one up.

I really don’t know how they do it but they fully capture the flavour of Poutine (French Canadian invention of Fries cheese curds and gravy) in their “Soul in a Bowl” with Eggs, Hollandaise, potatoes, cheese curds, and house cured bacon.

Hi @JordanSB You are so right, breakfast is the most important meal for me. I can’t start the day without breakfast. If you haven’t tried it, I would definitely recommend you to try the turkhish breakfast, because everyone who tries it is a fan.

@JordanSB I love all of your pictures, just looking at your photos made me hungry  .

I think I will start too following the Hobbit food schedule, after I saw your post haha, French toast is my current favorite sweet food, although I barely made it at home because I’m lazy :joy: .

Thanks for sharing the yummy foods including your cute happy kids @JordanSB

In Indonesia, it’s common to have rice or porridge as a breakfast. Does it sound too “heavy”? :joy:

Anyway, I love American breakfast as well!

Glad to have this one when I visited LA.

We had breakfast at &Waffles

Hi @Tedfroop21

Wow… Everything looks so appetizing!

I really want to try Poutine.

You said that this restaurant is in California as well. What is the name of the restaurant?

I can’t find The Hot Grill in Google Maps, but I did find Hot Off The Grill there. Is it the same?
