I believe that in Bosnia and Herzegovina is still early to talk about serious usage of guides system. People mostly only occasionally put some star ratings on places they visit if the phone prompts them. I have to admit that is also how I started. But after some time I realized that people actually care about what you actually say out there. I noticed that my photos are getting a lot of hits, my reviews are getting likes and responses. I must admit it felt good. On one occasion my phone rang and woke me up, and then I saw that some guy had sent me the message both on facebook and instagram asking why i gave him such a bad rating on google local guides. At first I was offended that someone has courage to disturb me but when I really woke up I realized that is important that owners care about the users think of they service and what they are posting online about them. It is especially important to build that kind of awareness of the strength of public user communities and their opinion in business owners. If you are curios
I had the conversation with the guy and explained to him what was the reason of my anger, and he admitted that he and his stuff should put more effort in providing better service. He apologized and promised that in the future he wants to have as much as possible satisfied customers. If I wasn’t wrote the review he would never knew about the problem his place had that day. Maybe that case was just the incident but in other case if it was something common in their business they should be notified about it and the community should be notified as well. In Bosnia owners of bars and restaurants are often people with suspicious background who only run for profits and they think that they can buy pretty much anything. That’s why is important to rate their business and use the guides system as a tool in fight for better customer services. I’m living in country in development and it is crucial to build this aspect of our community too. Customer awareness and owners awareness of importance of service quality and doing business with responsibility. This is what I’m trying to do and I’m really enjoying it. Especially I like to give ratings and reviews on places with small number of reviews. I see it as a chance to sparkle the discussion on a new place and in a way to advertise their business in a good way or a bad (depends only on them and their work
). I also care about people visiting my country I really want them to have fun and pleasant staying with us. I am always sad when someone irresponsibly lets those people to leave our country believing that everything is bad and that they don’t want to go back ever. I consider that a dozen of people from Banja Luka including me are doing good job by contributing to guides and raising awareness of quality of life and staying in our city and country.
