Boogie Doggie Dog Cafe

Boogie Doggie Pet Cafe is a dog cafe at Gading Walk, Mal Kelapa Gading in Jakarta, Indonesia. They have for about 30 dogs from many breed, such as Golden Retriever (the one that they have is a champion dog, but when we were here, the dog went overseas for a competition), Samoyed, Alaskan Malamute, Beagle, Yorkshire Terrier, Pug, French Bulldog, Pomeranian, Corgi, Cihuahua, and many more. We cannot bring our own dog inside the cafe. I think it is because the cafe does not want to take a risk and as a prevention from dogs’ fighting to each other. The dogs are so cute and well-maintained. The cafe is clean.

As a dog person, I have a sad perspective towards a dog cafe where the tired and sleepy dogs are forced to keep active, accompany the customers to take picture together all day. I often see kids holding the dog not in an appropriate way. To be honest, It is a sad condition. I just hope that the dog cafe management will take wiser consideration and care about this.

Well, let’s talk more about this cafe and food. We came here on a public holiday. We need to purchase the food in minimal amount IDR 70,000 per person, so that we will have 2 hours time to play with the dogs.

Here are what we tried :

Smokey Party Pancake

Sweet and soft pancake which is decorated as a dog’s head. The pancake is filled with beef ham, cheese, vegetables, along with the sauce.

Grilled Chicken Steak

Grilled and tender chicken steak served with the barbecue sauce, sauteed vegetables with garlic, and french fries. The steak smelled so good. It even “invited” a Samoyed dog came to our table several time. It was so cute, but sorry buddy, you cannot eat our food because you have your own food

Oh wow! My parents live just across the road from Mal Kelapa Gading… I need to tell them about this place

How long have they been in business @Velvel ? I don’t think they were around last time I was in Jakarta. I need to check it out next time I’m back home!

Hi @iyudhi

They just opened for about a month ago. So, it still new and fresh :grinning:

Yeah, you should tell your parents, and I recommend them to come on weekend or holiday. Although there will be a lot of people, but the more dog will be provided to play with.

Do you know that in Gading Walk there is also dog outdoor park, hotel, and salon?

It’s the first time that I hear about such a place. I mean, there are a lot of restaurants, hotels, cafés and etc. that allows people to bring their pets with them while they’re socializing or just to be able to spend their holidays with their 4 legged friends, but that’s a hole new situation you’ve shared there. It’s definitely innovative and the idea on paper sounds pretty great.

Just like you, @Velvel , I’m also a dog lover and as a owner of two beautiful furry ladies, I cannot not think about the conditions that these dogs live. But, I’m sure that the owners are taking good care of their animals, because if they weren’t the café won’t be working. They probably just have to figure everything out. As it’s a new project they don’t have a lot to learn from, so they have to find their own path and this takes time. I can only wish them luck.

And, as an end to this post, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for introducing such a interesting place to the community. I’m sure that a lot of people will find your publication intriguing and helpful.

P.S.: Just wanted to let you know that I removed the language tag from your post, as it wasn’t written in Indonesian and this confuse other people of the community who are looking for publications in this particular language.

Awesome place! Thank you for sharing, @Velvel
There are many cat cafes in Japan but such kind of dog cafes are not a lot for now. I hope everyone will know the charm of dogs and play with them :dog:

You’re welcome @HiroyukiTakisawa

It’s a pleasure to share such a nice and fun place like this with my fellow Local Guides

Have you ever visited the cat cafe? And have you brought your Corgi to a dog cafe before?

Hi, @Velvel

I have been to a cat cafe once. That was an interesting experience but I don’t know a cat cafe that we can bring our pets. Probably it doesn’t exist in Japan because of the very strict rules.
