Hey everyone,
So I’m a bit of a boardgame nut and since I moved to Stockholm, I think I have visited most of the game days / nights that happen in and around Stockholm. The reason I like boardgames is that I can be a bit of a social outcast alienating myself in large groups especially when I don’t really know anyone and boardgames really help me connect with people and I’ve made so many friends and met some truly awesome people whilst gaming. I moved to Stockholm from Chelmsford in Essex last year and I was quite well established within the gaming community and then when I moved to Stockholm, I found it really difficuly to find anywhere to play games despite asking at the local gaming stores, so i decided to ask some random people in a the sci fi bookstore in Stockholm and was told about a gaming group that meet just round the corner and I think I’ve been there every week like clock work since I’ve been in Stockholm.
It’s nice to have one list for the entire of Stockholm, obviously it will never be 100% accurate as there are so many things going in within the boardgame community, just last week, I was playing boardgames in the offices of Spotify with a friend who works there and, that place is pretty cool.
This then sparked my list on google of which I have created where I have listed the best places to play games at within stockholm as well as creating a facebook page called Furball Gaming and Instagram page where I do things with games and I always make sure to tag myself in the locations I am at.
Boardgames are a great way to meet new and interesting people, they help bring people together in a non intrusive setting wether your playing something like Catan to something as simple as snap, its a great way to socially interact without making an effort and all the gaming clubs I have been too, have been very open and welcoming.
