Birding in Bangalore, India

Among the major cities in India, Bangalore (Bengaluru) is unique due to it’s rich diversity of avifauna. It has a large number of birding spots in and around the city with different habitats like lake, parks and wooded areas.

These areas are richer in terms of resident as well as migratory birds.

Let us look at some of the important birding locations in Bangalore city.

1.Nandhi hills: This is a hilly area about 60 km away from the city and it is an excellent birding area especially during November to March. During this season one can see lot of migratory birds coming from far away places.

2:Hoskote lake, Hessaraghatta lake: These two lakes which are on east and western side of the city respectively, are the important birding spots for land as well as water birds.

3:Valley school area is another wooded area with lot of resident and migratory birds.
