Bike Riding in Conondale National Park, Australia

The Charlie Mooreland Camping Area in the Conondale National Park is about 2hrs drive north of Brisbane. This is a very pretty part of the Sunshine Coast hinterland. The camping area has good facilities, but bookings are required using the Queensland Government web site.

We overnight-ed in the Holden Panelvan, just a mattress and our bikes.

Ride west from the campground up Sunday Creek Road. This forest road is steep and has some heavy truck traffic.

Thinks get better after turning off Sunday Creek Road towards Mount Allen.

Leaving Sunday Creek Road for shared trail

The trail is a shared forest road so easy riding and fun.

Love these trails through forests.

Look for the turn off to the restored fire tower.

As you would expect, there are some good views from here.

Ready for some downhill

The trail back to Charlie Mooreland Camp Area is easy and mostly down hill, the reward for earlier effort.

Hi @Zeg

Thank you for sharing your photos. Mountain biking sounds really exciting and also quite challenging. Do you often go there to ride? The nature and views are definitely worth it and it’s probably refreshing at the same time.

I’ve never done it myself, but I’ve always thought it will be a lot of fun. Are there group tours as well for biking? How long do you spend there?

Thanks!

Great ride! Do you often encounter wildlife on your trips, how safe it feels to cycle? That cute perentie runs fast according to natgeo…)

Thank you for reading my post. We try to go out as often as possible, at the moment the virus has changed that. If you don’t ride but would like to, try E-Bike or E-Pedal, way easier and a heap of fun.

Other than kangaroos and wallabies we hardly ever see much else. The goanna in the photo lived in the camp area so all about trying to steal food!
