Starbucks opened a new Starbucks Reserve Roastery Store in Meguro, Tokyo on 28th Feb 2019. Spread over 4 floors, this is the biggest Starbucks store in the world. Before this, the biggest store was in Shanghai, China.
Designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, the 4-story roastery was inspired by the cherry blossom trees that line the nearby Meguro river. Thanks to glass walls and a terrace, customers will be able to gaze out over the Sakura trees when they’re in bloom. ''
Roastery’s four floor has something for all kinds of audiences. Tea, coffee, cocktails, alcohol, cake or sight-seeing, take your pick.
On the first floor, they have two major attractions.
One is the bakery where you can get baked goods from Milanese bakery Princi. They have the flour and essential materials outsourced from Italy and bread and pastries are baked there itself.
This cake with Pistachio & berries looks absolutely amazing. For me, I had this vegetarian pizza which I really enjoyed.
Next, I headed to the second floor where they have the Teavana tea room. The roastery houses the world’s biggest Teavana tea room with around 20 flavors of tea with specialties from Japan and China. One can try different flavors of tea and purchase the same as well.
Arriviamo Bar on third floor caters to the audience which needs a little extra after work hours. They have some special coffee cocktails. The staff is very kind and has a happy vibe about them like the rest of the Starbucks staff in the stores around the world.
The fourth floor has an indoor and outdoor sitting area. The outside seating area has a view of Cherry Blossom trees near Meguro river so you can expect it to be crowded in spring next month.
One can also view the whole roaster from top to bottom from here. The metallic Sakura (Cherry Blossom) flowers hanging from the roof come as no surprise since the theme of the roastery is Sakura . The coffee roaster machine is obviously also Starbucks’ biggest at 17m. Freshly roasted beans coming out of the roastery can be purchased along with souvenirs at the first floor.

I loved this place and would love to take you there if you’re in Tokyo. Let me know how you liked the post.
